Jaguars Sign John Brown, Jordan Wilkins To Practice Squad

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran wide receiver John Brown and running back Jordan Wilkins to their practice squad on Monday and released running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Brown spent some time on the Denver Broncos practice squad this year and could catch his only target in the two games he was active in Weeks 6 and 7. He'll merely provide depth at the position behind the likes of Tyron Johnson, Laquon Treadwell, Tavon Austin and Jamal Agnew. Wilkins played just one offensive snap in four games with the Indianapolis Colts this year. He will provide additional running back depth after James Robinson (heel) missed the Week 9 upset win over the Buffalo Bills.

John Brown Called Up From Practice Squad

Denver Broncos wide receiver John Brown has been elevated to the active roster. He had been on the practice squad for just a few days. The 31-year-old spent the preseason with the Raiders but was released on cutdown day. Now, he'll be tasked with playing wide receiver in an offense that is currently without both Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler. Considering he is a new addition to the team, it is hard to imagine that Brown, who has two 1,000-yard seasons through seven years in the NFL, will see a full workload. However, Denver is still likely to get him involved. He caught 147 passes for 2,283 yards and 14 touchdowns over his last three seasons with the Bills and Ravens.

Broncos Add John Brown To Practice Squad

The Denver Broncos signed veteran wide receiver John Brown to their practice squad on Tuesday, according to a source. With the addition of Brown, Denver adds speed to the outside after the season-ending injury to second-year pass-catcher KJ Hamler (knee). Brown was with the Las Vegas Raiders in training camp and the preseason, but he was cut before the start of the regular season. The 31-year-old had 33 catches on 52 targets for 458 yards and three touchdowns in nine games with the Buffalo Bills last season. He has a decent chance of joining the Broncos active roster eventually, but how much of an impact he'll have will depend on how quickly Jerry Jeudy can return from his high ankle sprain.

John Brown Works Out For Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons brought in free-agent wide receiver John Brown for a workout on Tuesday. Brown was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders at the end of training camp with the team electing to go with their younger options at the position. The speedy receiver has always been a solid contributor on the field, but he only played in nine games this past season with an ankle injury and isn't getting any younger at the age of 31. The Falcons would figure to be a good landing spot for Brown with minimal competition behind Calvin Ridley. Even if Brown winds up in Atlanta, he should be avoided in the majority of fantasy leagues.

John Brown Released By Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders released wide receiver John Brown on Tuesday per the player's request, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported. The 31-year-old veteran wideout figured to be part of the Raiders offensive attack when he signed with the team last March, but he was pushed down the depth chart during the preseason and was highly unlikely to get work over the likes of youngsters Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards. Suffice to say, Ruggs and Edwards now have increased fantasy potential with Brown hitting free agency. Brown could have some fantasy upside if he stays healthy, but that remains to be seen.

Jul 22nd · 03:07 AM
John Brown Should Be Part Of Raiders Attack

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver John Brown played just nine games in Buffalo last season due to injury, but he still caught 33 passes for 458 yards and three touchdowns with 50.9 yards per game, the third-highest mark of his career. Now, he'll look to make an impact in Vegas, where he'll compete for targets with wide receiver Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards, as well as tight end Darren Waller. Vic Tafur of The Athletic believes that Brown won't make the kind of impact in Vegas that Nelson Agholor made last season, but he will "definitely be part of the attack." Brown is not someone who needs to be high on your fantasy radars, but he's a potential sleeper if Ruggs continues to struggle in his second NFL season and quarterback Derek Carr can find a quick rapport with the veteran.

John Brown Signs With Las Vegas

On Wednesday, free-agent wide receiver John Brown signed a one-year, $3.7 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders that could be worth as much as $5.5 million if he reaches certain incentives. Brown spent the past two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, who released him last week. He appeared in just nine games in 2020, finishing with 458 yards and three touchdowns. Brown will now head to Las Vegas to help replace Nelson Agholor, who signed with the New England Patriots. If he's able to emerge as the top wideout on the Raiders, Brown could work his way into the WR3 conversation in fantasy in 2021.

Mar 17th · 04:07 PM
Raiders, John Brown Agree To Deal

The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a one-year, $3.75 million deal with veteran wide receiver John Brown on Wednesday, according to a source. Brown will have a chance to make a total of $5.5 million. The 30-year-old speedy deep threat was released by the Buffalo Bills and will now try to replace Nelson Agholor, who signed with the New England Patriots, in Las Vegas. Brown had 105 catches on 167 targets for 1,518 yards and nine touchdowns in 24 games for Buffalo in two seasons. He disappointed with 33 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 in just nine games due to injury. Brown should improve on his numbers from last year if he's healthy with the Raiders, where he's likely to be the third option behind tight end Darren Waller and second-year receiver Henry Ruggs III

Bills Release John Brown, Quinton Jefferson

The Buffalo Bills released wide receiver John Brown and defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson on Wednesday. Brown had a career year in 2019, going for 72 catches, 1,060 receiving yards and six touchdowns, but he had only 33 receptions for 458 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 and was limited to just nine games because of an ankle injury. The 30-year-old had 105 catches for 1,518 yards and nine touchdowns in 24 games with the Bills. Brown could still find plenty of fantasy value in 2021, depending on where he lands in free agency. Jefferson spent four years with Seattle before joining Buffalo in 2020. He had three sacks, six QB hits, three tackles for loss, 23 total tackles and one forced fumble last year.

John Brown Has Sneaky Value

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown surprisingly had a solid game against the Baltimore Ravens last week. He hauled in eight receptions for 62 yards in the win. Brown has battled injuries all season long, but plays well when he's actually on the field. The Kansas City Chiefs are likely going to do everything in their power to slow down Stefon Diggs. That means, Brown could be against some below average defenders, which could mean he has a solid game. DFS players should highly consider using Brown for this matchup since he has plenty of upside.

Jan 17th · 06:08 PM
John Brown Hauls In Eight Receptions

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown was held catchless during the playoff matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. However, Brown was on a mission to prove that it was a fluke performance. On Saturday, Brown hauled in eight of his 11 targets for 62 yards in the victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Brown has played well when healthy this season, but getting him healthy and on the field has been an issue. He'll be a decent DFS option heading into the next round.

Jan 15th · 05:47 PM
John Brown Avoidable Versus Ravens

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown was a ghost against the Indianapolis Colts last week. He failed to haul in any of his four targets in the win over Indy. At this point, Gabriel Davis is looking like he surpassed Brown on the depth chart. Brown looked solid during their regular season finale, but the Bills have too many options on offense. It's unlikely that Brown does anything significant against the Baltimore Ravens secondary this weekend.

Jan 8th · 05:02 PM
John Brown Might Have WR3 Value

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown had a disappointing and injury plagued 2020 season. However, he was able to haul in all four of his targets for 72 yards and one touchdown in the regular season finale. Hopefully, Brown is actually healthy and ready to make some noise against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend. He could also have a bigger role if veteran Cole Beasley (knee) is limited or inactive in the wild-card round. When healthy, Brown has looked like a reliable option most weeks. Sadly, staying on the field has been a big issue for him this season. He could be a decent low-cost WR3 for the playoff games this weekend.

Jan 4th · 02:20 AM
John Brown Snags Touchdown In Win Over Dolphins

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown returned in Week 17 after missing five straight games due to injury. He was able to finish out the regular season on a high note versus the Miami Dolphins. Brown hauled in all four of his targets for 72 yards and one touchdown in the blowout victory. He finished the season with 33 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns. It was obviously a down year for Brown, but injuries were a significant factor in that. Brown could be a possible cheap DFS option if Cole Beasley (knee) isn't ready in time. His fantasy value is a bit cloudy heading into next season after the emergence of Gabriel Davis.

John Brown Activated From IR, Goes On COVID-19 List

The Buffalo Bills activated wide receiver John Brown (ankle) from Injured Reserve on Monday, but he's now going on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and won't be active for the Week 16 game against the division-rival Patriots. The Bills also placed safety Josh Thomas and running back Christian Wade on the COVID-19 list as high-risk close contacts. Brown hasn't played since Week 10, but he could return for the Week 17 season finale against the Dolphins in order to knock off some rust before the playoffs start the following week. Rookie wideout Gabriel Davis has benefitted the most in Buffalo's passing attack with Brown sidelined, as he's been working as the No. 3 receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley. Davis has clear WR3/flex appeal on Monday night, especially with the Patriots missing All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Dec 23rd · 08:41 PM
John Brown Remains On Injured Reserve

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that wide receiver John Brown (ankle) will practice on Wednesday, but he remains on Injured Reserve. Brown is trending in the right direction and could be activated to play in time for Monday night's meeting with the division-rival Patriots. New England's secondary will be much more vulnerable without All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore (quadriceps), but Brown has not played since Week 10 and could be eased back into the fray if he's active for this one. Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley will remain the team's top pass-catchers, but Brown's return would put a serious dent in rookie Gabriel Davis' flex appeal in deeper leagues. Consider Brown a risky boom/bust WR4/flex if he plays in Week 16.

Dec 17th · 08:30 PM
John Brown Won't Play Saturday

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that wide receiver John Brown (ankle) will not play in Week 15 against the Broncos on Saturday. Brown remains on Injured Reserve. The 30-year-old still has a chance to return before the end of the regular season, though. Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley will remain Buffalo's top two pass-catchers, while rookie Gabriel Davis should continue to see more chances in three-wide sets in this high-octane offense. Davis has found the end zone in each of the last three games and has scored in four of the last five games. He has nine catches (16 targets) for 166 yards and the three TDs in the last three weeks. Against a beat up and inexperienced Denver secondary this weekend, Davis has some upside as a WR3/flex.

Dec 15th · 12:40 AM
John Brown Set For Return To Practice Ahead Of Week 15

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown (ankle) is on track to return to the practice field ahead of Saturday's game versus Denver, an indication that he could be removed from Injured Reserve and activated in time to suit up in Week 15. Brown hasn't played since Week 10 due to an ankle injury, having combined for 19 targets in his two most recent contests. How quickly Brown could return to action is unknown at this stage, but his return would heavily dampen the fantasy intrigue of Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis, while potentially cutting into the targets of Stefon Diggs. The Broncos Defense is in the top third of the league when it comes to containing opposing wide receivers in 2020, but Brown would still hold some WR3/flex appeal in deeper leagues should he get the green light to return in time.

Nov 28th · 10:38 PM
John Brown Lands On Injured Reserve With Ankle Injury

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown (ankle) had already been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Chargers, but he will now miss at least the next three contests due to a high ankle sprain which has landed him on injured reserve. Brown had been finding his groove within the offense over the past two games, having racked up 14 catches for 171 yards in that span. Stefon Diggs is the likeliest candidate to absorb Brown's targets within the offense, but Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, Isaiah McKenzie, Andre Roberts, and even Jake Kumerow could all be in line for larger workloads over the next three weeks. With Brown's potential remaining games slated to come against Denver, New England, and Miami, he can safely be dropped to the waiver wire in all season-long formats.

Nov 27th · 05:04 PM
John Brown Ruled Out Versus Chargers

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown (ankle) will not suit up for the Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. He wasn't healthy enough to practice this week despite coming off a bye week. Brown has been battling injuries all season long and will now miss his third game this season. That means, Gabriel Davis should be more involved in the passing attack this week. He could be a low-end flex option for fantasy owners in desperate need of wide receiver help.

Nov 16th · 06:38 AM
John Brown Targeted Eight Times In Loss

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown saw plenty of chances during the Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He hauled in six of his eight targets for 72 yards in this one. Brown has put together two strong performances after being a dud throughout most of the season. Fantasy owners can be hopeful that this trend continues, but you never know with Brown. He'll head into a Week 11 bye week before a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Nov 9th · 01:50 AM
John Brown Finally Breaks Out Of Slump

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown's last four games have been fairly rough, as he's caught just five balls for 63 yards on 13 targets during that span. Brown topped those numbers against the Seahawks on Sunday, catching eight passes for 99 yards in his team's victory. It was a reminder of what Brown was doing for this team in 2019, though it might not be indicative of what's to come, as we can't ignore his recent lack of production. He remains a risky WR4/5 play.

Nov 2nd · 02:22 AM
John Brown Continues To Struggle

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown has been a fantasy dud this year. He continues to look like the odd man out with Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley posting big numbers basically every week. Brown hauled in one of his two targets for 21 yards in the win over the New England Patriots in Week 8. Brown has dealt with a few injuries this season, so maybe that is part of the reason he has been struggling. Regardless, Brown is a difficult player to trust in 12-team standard leagues right now. He'll hold shaky flex value against the Seattle Seahawks next week.

Oct 28th · 09:04 PM
John Brown Might Be A WR3 Option

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown (knee) was able to return to practice on Wednesday. That is a good sign after Brown was unable to play during the Week 7 win over the New York Jets. It sounds like there is a chance that Brown returns here versus the New England Patriots. His return would mean Gabriel Davis wouldn't see as much time on the field. Sadly for Brown, the Pats have a top-10 secondary, so he won't be anything more than a low-end WR3.

Oct 21st · 09:41 PM
John Brown Is Avoidable In Week 7

Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown (knee) was unable to suit up for practice on Wednesday. He was barely able to make it through the Week 6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. There is a good chance that the team holds him out of the Week 7 matchup with the New York Jets. Brown was unable to haul in any of his four targets in his last game. Fantasy owners should probably look for a suitable replacement since it sounds like Brown's status is trending in the wrong direction. He hasn't exactly been reliable lately, so standard league owners might want to add some insurance.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
