Malcolm Brown - Week 15 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown (quad) resumed practicing this week. That is great news after Brown has missed each of the last six games. Although, it's uncertain if he'll suit up for the Week 15 matchup against the New York Jets. Both Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed have returned off the COVID list. That means, those two should be the primary options in the backfield. It's unknown if Brown will play on Sunday or how much of a role he'll have in the offense. This is a wait-and-see type of situation unless something changes before Sunday.

Malcolm Brown Returning To Practice

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown (quad) is set to resume practicing this week. He has missed six straight games and there haven't been many updates on Brown lately. However, he couldn't be returning at a better time. Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, and Phillip Lindsay are all on the COVID list. Brown could be asked to take over lead back duties, assuming he's healthy enough to start against the New York Jets in Week 15. Brown would be worth looking at as a streaming option if he starts this week.

Malcolm Brown, Jason McCourty To Go On Injured Reserve

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown (quadriceps) and safety Jason McCourty (foot) will be placed on Injured Reserve this week after getting injured in the Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. McCourty may end up needing surgery on his foot, according to sources, which would keep him out for the long term. Brown will be forced to miss at least the next three games. He's second on the team behind Myles Gaskin with 33 rushing attempts (125 yards, one touchdown) in seven games, but he's caught only three of five targets for 10 yards, so he hasn't been much of a fantasy option in this uninspiring Miami backfield. With Brown sidelined, Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed will see more opportunities, beginning in Week 8 against a tough Buffalo Bills defense.

Malcolm Brown Gets Injured In Loss To Falcons

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown (quad) received the start during the Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Sadly, Brown only lasted five snaps before exiting the game and not returning. Brown finished with 10 rushing yards on three carries and one reception in the loss. It's uncertain if Brown is going to miss time from this injury. Often times, quad injuries have a tendency to linger on runners. Regardless, it's unlikely that Brown would have flex appeal in a tough matchup against the Bills in Week 8.

Oct 23rd · 05:16 PM
Malcolm Brown - Week 7 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown has seen 30 rushing attempts through the first six games of the season. He didn't play at all in Week 5, but normally handles the ball five or more times a game. Sadly for Brown, Myles Gaskin remains the lead back and the Dolphins offensive line is horrendous. Neither back is going to have much success with this o-line blocking for them. Brown does have a plus matchup against the Atlanta Falcons defense in Week 7. Although, there isn't much upside here and there should almost certainly be a better option in basically every format.

Oct 17th · 08:38 PM
Malcolm Brown Quiet In Loss To Jaguars

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown has been non-existent in this offense through the first six games of the season. The hope was that he'd be a compliment piece next to Myles Gaskin. However, Brown has failed to do much of anything during his limited opportunities. In Week 6, he rushed five times for 24 yards and hauled in one reception for seven yards in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. None of the Dolphins backs were able to get much accomplished in this game. It's difficult for them to find much room to run with such an awful offensive line. At this point, Brown can be left on the waiver wire in basically all fantasy formats.

Oct 15th · 04:04 PM
Malcolm Brown - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown saw five carries or more through the first four games of the season. However, he didn't touch the ball during the Week 5 matchup with Tampa Bay. It was all Myles Gaskin, who shined in the receiving game with 10 catches for over 100 yards. Brown was hardly a fantasy option before that game and appears to be a cut-candidate now. He'll head into a matchup with Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. A defense that is middle of the road when stopping running backs. Although, it's uncertain if Brown will have a role in the offensive gameplan. He can be benched or left on the waiver wire going forward.

Oct 4th · 12:46 AM
Malcolm Brown Sees Uptick In Carries

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown has been stuck behind Myles Gaskin through the first few weeks of the season. However, Brown actually lead the team in carries during the Week 4 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. He rushed a season-high eight times for 23 yards in the loss to Indy. The Dolphins running game was awful all game long. It's not going to get better against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week. Gaskin is the more appealing fantasy option. Brown can remain off fantasy rosters until he proves himself.

Oct 1st · 06:26 PM
Malcolm Brown Is Not Worth Streaming In Week 4

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown saw a season-high nine touches last week. It appears Salvon Ahmed is out of the picture, so Myles Gaskin and Brown are the main options in the running game. Sadly for Brown, Gaskin is the No. 1 option and their first choice on screens or pass catching plays. It's unlikely that Brown does anything worth streaming him against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. Brown might be worth stashing in case Gaskin gets injured, but otherwise he isn't going to be a reliable option.

Sep 27th · 04:15 AM
Malcolm Brown Finds The End Zone Versus Raiders

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown had seen minimal usage heading into a Week 3 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he saw a slight increase in touches with Salvon Ahmed being a healthy scratch on Sunday. Brown carried the ball seven times for 31 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Obviously, Myles Gaskin remains the lead back, so Brown won't have much upside going forward. Brown might be worth stashing in deep formats in case Gaskin goes down. Otherwise, Brown won't be on the streaming radar for the Week 4 matchup against the Colts.

Sep 23rd · 04:20 PM
Malcolm Brown Unlikely To Be Trustworthy

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown was expected to have a significant role in this offense coming into the season. Thus far, Brown has disappointed and Myles Gaskin has been the clear No. 1 back in this offense. In Week 2, Brown saw just five touches in the blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. Possibly, Brown's role does increase with backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett under center in Week 3. As everyone saw last week, Brissett isn't someone who is going to beat you with his arm. The Dolphins might be forced to run frequently versus Las Vegas in Week 3. Despite that, Brown's role is uncertain, which makes him a shaky option in all fantasy formats.

Sep 20th · 01:39 AM
Malcolm Brown Disappoints Once Again

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown was signed over the offseason to be a depth option behind Myles Gaskin. Although, Brown has struggled through the first two weeks of the season. He rushed five times for 21 yards in the blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. To be fair, the Dolphins were forced to throw their gameplan out the window in the second half. They had to abandoned the running game, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect Brown to have much success going forward. Brown can be left on the waiver wire for Week 3. There won't be much value for him with Gaskin healthy right now.

Sep 13th · 03:07 AM
Malcolm Brown Posts Dud In Debut

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown was added as insurance in the backfield over the offseason. He was expected to be part of a three-back committee with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. However, Brown struggled heavily in the Week 1 victory over the New England Patriots. He rushed five times for 16 yards in his team debut. Gaskin looked like the only reliable option in the Dolphins backfield. Fantasy managers shouldn't trust Brown or Ahmed in any formats right now.

Sep 9th · 04:00 AM
Malcolm Brown A Risky Choice In Team Debut

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown is reportedly going to be in a three-back committee to begin the season. However, it sounds like the Dolphins believe Myles Gaskin can be a three-down back. Regardless, both Brown and Salvon Ahmed should see action during the Week 1 matchup against the New England Patriots. A defense that is fairly average when it comes to stopping the running game. Although, it's tough to predict how Brown will do in his first regular season game with Miami. Right now, Gaskin is the only trustworthy back for the Dolphins.

Sep 4th · 10:09 PM
Malcolm Brown Could Have Sneaky Value

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown is probably not someone most fantasy managers would bother considering in drafts. He's currently stuck in a three-back committee with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. Right now, it sounds like Gaskin is the favorite to be the lead back. However, Brown was brought in this offseason as insurance at the running back position. He saw plenty of chances during the preseason and should be involved once the regular season begins. Brown is not going to be a great weekly option, but he could surprise people. It wouldn't be shocking if he saw around 10 carries and a few targets through the air each week. That might be enough to warrant holding a roster spot in fantasy formats.

Aug 22nd · 03:37 AM
Malcolm Brown Gets 10 Carries In Win

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown is expected to be an important part of the three-back committee this season. On Saturday, he saw 10 attempts for 43 rushing yards and one touchdown in the 37-17 preseason victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Brown saw the most carries out of all the backs in Miami. However, they all averaged around the same yards per attempt. Head coach Brian Flores mentioned that he plans to use all three backs situationally. That means, none of them are going to have a huge role each week and it'll be frustrating for fantasy managers. Brown will probably be an asset in deeper leagues.

Aug 14th · 11:52 PM
Malcolm Brown Starts In Preseason Opener

Miami Dolphins running back Malcolm Brown took snaps with the first unit during Saturday's preseason opener. That would suggest Brown is ahead of Myles Gaskin on the depth chart. However, Brown was horrendous during the preseason opener, so that might not last too long. He rushed nine times for eight yards with one reception for seven yards through the air. Gaskin ended up outsnapping Brown by the end of the game, so maybe the Dolphins were just evaluating how Brown plays with the starters. If this game is any indication then Gaskin doesn't have anything to worry about heading into the regular season. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on how the Dolphins use their backs during the preseason.

Malcolm Brown Signs With Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent running back Malcolm Brown to a one-year, $1.75 million contract on Tuesday. Brown spent the first six years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams, rushing for 1,188 yards and 11 touchdowns over 298 carries. The veteran will likely compete for a backup role behind Myles Gaskin, assuming that the Dolphins don't use a pick on a running back in the draft, which has been rumored. Brown is just a low-end handcuff option in fantasy leagues at this point in his career.

Mar 17th · 06:30 PM
Jaguars Acquire Malcolm Brown From Saints

The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired defensive lineman Malcolm Brown from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday. Brown would have made around $5 million if he had remained in New Orleans, but instead he will receive a two-year deal worth $11 million with $8 million guaranteed in his new home. He has been a starter the last two years with the Saints after starting his career with the New England Patriots, where he was also a starter and earned two Super Bowl rings. The 27-year-old had 27 tackles and a sack kin 12 games for the Saints last year. He'll bring valuable depth to Jacksonville's defensive line in 2021. The sixth-year defensive tackle continues a rebuild for the Jaguars on defense.

Mar 17th · 01:24 AM
Dolphins Sign Malcolm Brown

The Miami Dolphins signed former Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Brown averaged more than four yards per carry in his time in Los Angeles. The 27-year-old from Texas spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Rams and has played in 70 games (two starts) while rushing for 1,188 yards and 11 touchdowns on 298 attempts. He had a career year in 2020, rushing for 419 yards and five touchdowns while being part of a committee backfield that also featured Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. Brown will compete for touches in his new home with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed in 2021. Back in LA, Xavier Jones is likely to serve as the No. 3 back behind Akers and Henderson.

Jan 9th · 05:34 PM
Malcolm Brown Has Little Upside Against Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown has taken a clear back seat to rookieCam Akers in the pecking order for L.A., leaving him with little upside against the Seattle Seahawks in Saturday's wild-card game on Saturday. Brown did have two touchdowns in the first meeting between these two teams, but he hasn't found the end zone a single time since. He has just 11 carries in the past four games and should be considered nothing more than a punt play this weekend.

Dec 31st · 04:57 PM
Malcolm Brown Dealing With Injury

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown (shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday. If he cannot play and rookie Cam Akers (ankle) doesn't return from his high-ankle sprain against the Cardinals on Sunday, the Rams would play without a running back that has a carry in 2020. Head coach Sean McVay said he'd be confident giving carries to rookie Xavier Jones, who has played only on special teams. McVay also said that Akers is "making great progress" after missing Week 16 against the Seahawks. Akers didn't practice on Wednesday, though, and fantasy managers shouldn't count on the rookie returning for this win-and-in game. At best, Brown should be considered an RB2 against Arizona this weekend, but LA's offense won't have much upside with backup quarterback John Wolford seeing his first NFL action on Sunday.

Nov 1st · 10:15 PM
Malcolm Brown Leads Team In Touches In Week 8

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown has been marginalized for much of the year, but he led his team in touches and snaps in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. He had 10 carries for 40 yards to go with two receptions for 17 yards. The team had an efficient day on the ground, but they just couldn't finish drives with any consistency. Brown remains touchdown-reliant for fantasy purposes, and his opportunities are likely going to continue to dwindle if rookie running back Cam Akers sees his workload increase as the season wears on.

Oct 29th · 12:52 AM
Malcolm Brown A Deep Flex Option In Week 8

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown isn't a great fantasy option, but he's clearly a flex option in most weeks in deeper leagues, especially in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. He leads the team in running back snaps this season and he's been getting a lot of the goal-line work. With four teams on bye this week, a running back that sees red-zone work can be good enough to get into your flex spot, especially in standard-scoring formats. The Dolphins have allowed six rushing touchdowns this season and they've given up a receiving touchdown to running backs as well. Brown isn't a perfect play this week, but there are worse options available in deeper leagues.

Oct 27th · 03:58 AM
Malcolm Brown Shows Some Life In Week 7

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown hadn't done much over the last month, but he showed some life in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears on Monday night. He had 10 carries for 57 yards and he was able to get into the end zone. Brown brings little to nothing in the receiving game, and that's why his touchdowns are so important. With the lack of work that rookie running back Cam Akers is getting, Brown is able to get into the flex conversation on a weekly basis in deeper leagues as a touchdown-dependent option near the goal line.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
