Phillip Lindsay Inactive For Week 13

Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's meeting with the Giants. Lindsay rushed 12 times for 42 yards in his Dolphins debut last week on 15 snaps. With Lindsay out, expect to see Myles Gaskin taking on most of the rushing load for the Dolphins. Gaskin had two touchdowns last week and should be considered a solid RB2 option with upside this week.

Phillip Lindsay, Adam Shaheen Doubtful To Face Giants

Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle) and tight end Adam Shaheen (knee) were both listed as doubtful to play in Week 13 against the New York Giants. Lindsay had two limited practices with a DNP mixed in on Thursday, while Shaheen was limited all week. Lindsay had a surprising season-high 12 carries for 42 yards in his Dolphins debut last week, but he'll likely step aside and let Salvon Ahmed resume his duties as a change-of-pace back behind starter Myles Gaskin this weekend. Even with Lindsay likely out, Ahmed isn't an inspiring fantasy option. Shaheen's likely absence in Week 13 will mean a few more looks for starting TE Mike Gesicki, while Durham Smythe will once again see more playing time.

Phillip Lindsay Not Seen At Practice Thursday

Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle) was not seen at practice on Thursday at the portion open to the media. Lindsay was a limited practice participant on Wednesday, so this would represent a downgrade if he in fact is listed as missing Thursday's session. Friday will be big for the former Houston Texan and Denver Broncos as the Dolphins head into their Week 13 game against the New York Giants. The 27-year-old played 20% of the offensive snaps in his team debut in the Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers, seeing a season-high 12 carries for 42 yards. That's a good sign for Lindsay, but Myles Gaskin remains Miami's lead back. If Lindsay cannot play this Sunday, Salvon Ahmed, who played 18% of the snaps and had five carries, will see more playing time as Gaskin's backup.

Phillip Lindsay, Adam Shaheen Limited Wednesday

Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle) and tight end Adam Shaheen (knee) were limited in Wednesday's practice. Lindsay played 15 offensive snaps in his team debut in Week 12 and carried the ball 12 times for 42 yards behind Myles Gaskin. Lindsay's addition is obviously bad news for Salvon Ahmed's rest-of-season outlook, but Lindsay won't have much standalone fantasy value in this offense as the No. 2 running back. Shaheen missed last week's win over the Carolina Panthers but is on track to return in Week 13 against the New York Giants. But as the No. 2 behind Mike Gesicki when healthy, Shaheen has no fantasy value. He's caught 12 of 16 targets for 110 scoreless yards in nine games in 2021.

Phillip Lindsay Gets 12 Carries In Week 12

Miami Dolphins running back Phillip Lindsay made his team debut against the Carolina Panthers in Week 12. He rushed 12 times for 42 yards in the victory. Lindsay was the obvious No. 2 back behind Myles Gaskin in this one. That being said, Lindsay should remain involved in the gameplan going forward. Sadly, there isn't a ton of fantasy upside due to the fact Gaskin is the lead back. It's uncertain if Lindsay would even see over 10 touches most weeks. It's tough to imagine Lindsay having much fantasy value against the New York Giants next week.

Nov 25th · 12:43 AM
Dolphins Claim Phillip Lindsay Off Waivers

The Miami Dolphins claimed running back Phillip Lindsay off waivers from the Houston Texans on Wednesday. Lindsay had his job taken from him by Rex Burkhead in Houston before he was cut this week, so the former undrafted free-agent star with the Denver Broncos has fallen on hard times in 2021. The 27-year-old managed a pathetic 2.6 yards per carry for 130 yards and a touchdown on 50 rushing attempts in 10 games for the Texans while sharing touches with David Johnson and Mark Ingram II. He added three catches for 27 yards and another touchdown through the air. Lindsay will have a better chance for fantasy value in deep PPR leagues in Miami, but he's currently fourth on their RB depth chart behind Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Patrick Laird.

Nov 23rd · 04:57 PM
Texans Release Phillip Lindsay

The Houston Texans have released former Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay on Tuesday. The 27-year-old carried the ball just one time in Week 11 and has accumulated just 50 opportunities on the ground this season. Lindsay has averaged just 2.6 yards per carry while splitting opportunities with David Johnson, Rex Burkhead, and at one point Mark Ingram II. Burkhead carried the ball 18 times in Week 11, so he will have a lot of appeal on the waiver wire before Week 12 when the Texans play the New York Jets. David Johnson will likely handle passing situations, so he could have some fantasy value in deeper PPR leagues down the stretch. As for Lindsay, he is nothing more than a speculative add because of his unclear situation. He could be a good fit for the Baltimore Ravens who have just moved on from Le'Veon Bell, but it may be best to wait and see where he lands before using a waiver claim on him.

Nov 7th · 10:57 PM
Phillip Lindsay Leads Team In Rushing

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay led his team in rushing yards in Sunday's loss to Miami. Lindsay's 28 yards were his second-highest total of the year, which shows how much the Texans have struggled to get the run game going. The 27-year-old seems to be getting a bigger slice of the pie with Mark Ingram II in New Orleans, though his lack of passing-game work and positive game scripts makes him entirely too touchdown-dependent.

Nov 5th · 07:28 PM
Phillip Lindsay - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay faces one of his better matchups of the season in Week 9. The Texans backfield is now more open following Mark Ingram II's departure for New Orleans, and Lindsay figures to be one of the primary options to lead the way as a ball-carrier. Of course, it didn't play out that way against the Rams last week, though the 1-7 Dolphins present the Houston offense with a unique opportunity they haven't had since Week 1: a positive game script. The Texans could find themselves playing with a lead this week- which could open things up for the running game against a Miami defense that has allowed the 10th-most rushing yards to halfbacks. Lindsay could be a decent, cheap option in DFS this week.

Nov 2nd · 03:12 PM
Phillip Lindsay Available In Trade Talks

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay has been made available in trade talks ahead of Tuesday's deadline, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Lindsay could be an attractive option for any team that needs an addition to the backfield, which could include teams like the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs. The 27-year-old has rushed 41 times for 105 yards and a touchdown and has added three receptions for 37 yards and a receiving touchdown in the 2021 season. The two-time 1,000-yard rusher has had a limited role in the Houston offense, so a change of scenery would likely boost his fantasy value quite a bit. If he lands somewhere that he would have a significant role, he would be well worth a waiver pickup for the second half of the season.

Oct 29th · 08:25 PM
Phillip Lindsay - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay should see more opportunities in a Week 8 matchup with the Rams. Lindsay has amazingly compiled just 97 rushing yards on 38 attempts, as he has gone almost nowhere on the ground this year. However, the Texans traded their leading rusher, Mark Ingram II, to the Saints, meaning Lindsay could have an opportunity for more rushing work moving forward. There is no possible way you can comfortably start him based on how ineffective he's been this year, but he could be worth watching to see how much work he garners in the now two-headed backfield in Houston.

Oct 28th · 09:00 PM
David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay To Have Bigger Roles

Houston Texans running backs David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay will have bigger roles moving forward after the team traded Mark Ingram II to the New Orleans Saints. Through seven weeks, Ingram led the team with 294 rushing yards despite averaging only 3.2 yards per carry. Johnson is expected to be the feature back with Ingram gone, and Lindsay should also have an expanded role. Johnson is averaging 3.9 yards per carry and has 104 yards on 27 carries and 19 catches for 154 yards and a TD on 24 targets as the third-down back. Lindsay has rushed for 97 yards on 38 carries, averaging just 2.6 yards per rush. The impending return of quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will help this offense for sure, and Johnson's value increases with Ingram out of the picture, but he'll still be a low-upside RB4/flex in an extremely tough matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.

Oct 17th · 08:55 PM
Phillip Lindsay Posts 54 Scrimmage Yards

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay had a solid day rushing the ball in Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Colts. Lindsay saw nine touches, his highest total since Week 1, turning them into 39 rushing yards and 15 yards through the air. He broke off a 35-yard run late in the first quarter but went virtually nowhere on the ground besides that, continuing his trend of averaging around a yard per carry on most of his runs. It's been a tough season for Lindsay, compounded by the fact that he plays in an offense that presents few scoring opportunities. It's tough to justify rostering him right now.

Oct 8th · 02:07 PM
Phillip Lindsay Off The Fantasy Radar In Week 5

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay could be in for another rough game against the Patriots in Week 5. Lindsay has carried the ball 24 times for 31 rushing yards- an impossible to believe 1.3 yards per carry average. The 27-year-old has just one catch on the season, and it went for a touchdown. Lindsay has almost no role in the Texans' offense, which has also been abysmal, meaning he shouldn't be anywhere close to fantasy lineups in Week 5 against a Patriots defense that gave Tom Brady and company a tough time in Week 4.

Oct 3rd · 08:56 PM
Phillip Lindsay Goes Backwards In Blowout Loss

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay totaled four carries for negative rushing yardage in a 40-0 blowout by the Bills. Lindsay took a backseat to both Mark Ingram II and David Johnson in terms of touches and production, as the former has now shockingly averaged under one yard per carry for each of the last three weeks. Lindsay is an underperforming player on an underachieving team- he has no fantasy value right now unless an injury occurs in the Texans backfield.

Sep 30th · 12:00 AM
Phillip Lindsay Shouldn't Be Started In Week 4

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay draws a difficult matchup in Week 4 against the Bills. Lindsay has carried the ball 12 times for seven rushing yards over the last two weeks, scoring a touchdown back in Week 2 to salvage his day. The veteran running back can't be trusted in any fantasy format right now, especially against a Bills defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest rushing yards to opposing backs.

Sep 24th · 12:49 PM
Phillip Lindsay Goes Nowhere In Loss

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay tallied seven carries for five rushing yards in a 24-9 loss to the Panthers. In a perplexing turn of events, Lindsay was on the field for the second-fewest amount of snaps but saw the most carries among the three Texans' backs, despite averaging a paltry 0.7 yards per carry. Yeah, I don't know either. After somewhat salvaging his fantasy value via the touchdown in each of the first two weeks, Lindsay failed to find the end zone in Week 3, meaning he has almost zero fantasy value right now, especially with the Texans' maddening backfield usage.

Sep 21st · 08:02 PM
Phillip Lindsay Off The Fantasy Radar Against Carolina

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay faces a tough test in Week 3 against the Panthers. Lindsay has found the end zone each of the last two weeks- but has yet to exceed 25 total scrimmage yards in either game. The 27-year-old looks to be the third back in the rotation behind Mark Ingram II and David Johnson, a role that isn't going to lend itself to much fantasy value. Lindsay will take on a Panthers run defense that looks improved from last year's unit. He's best left to the bench or waiver wire in all formats.

Sep 19th · 09:03 PM
Phillip Lindsay Finds The End Zone In Week 2 Loss

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay carried the ball five times for two rushing yards, adding a 22-yard touchdown reception in Sunday's loss to Cleveland. Lindsay finished third in snaps behind Mark Ingram II and David Johnson, though he was the only Texans back to find the end zone, hauling in a screen pass and finding room to run behind his blockers. The former Bronco has accumulated just 49 scrimmage yards but has found the end zone in each of his team's first two games. Lindsay, and all other Texans running backs, are best voided for fantasy purposes moving forward.

Sep 17th · 09:10 PM
Phillip Lindsay Not On The Fantasy Radar In Week 2

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay will look to find room against a stingy Browns run defense in Week 2. Lindsay played the fewest snaps of the three Texans' halfbacks last week but saw the second-most touches, compiling 25 rushing yards and a score against Jacksonville. The Texans led for much of that game but figure to be behind early against the Browns in Week 2, meaning fewer rushing opportunities for Lindsay. With no passing game role, the former Bronco will need to find the end zone to put up solid fantasy numbers- something that isn't worth betting on in any fantasy format.

Sep 12th · 10:50 PM
Phillip Lindsay Finds The End Zone In Week 1 Win

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay totaled 25 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries in a 37-21 win over the Jaguars. Lindsay took a backseat to Mark Ingram II and plodded for just 3.1 yards per carry- though he was able to find the end zone for a rushing score. Given that he was used primarily as a runner, the former Bronco will need a larger workload and for his team to maintain positive game scripts moving forward, both factors of which are too risky to depend on for fantasy purposes. Lindsay is off the fantasy radar for now but is worth monitoring in Week 2.

Sep 9th · 09:54 PM
Phillip Lindsay Stuck In Committee Ahead Of Favorable Week 1 Matchup

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay draws a favorable matchup in Week 1 against the Jaguars. Lindsay is expected to split the early-down work with Mark Ingram II, which will make this backfield a weekly headache to predict. The former Bronco posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons back in 2018 and 2019- meaning he'd be an upside play against the Jaguars' 30th-ranked run defense from 2020 if he were the undisputed lead back for Houston. However, the committee approach that the Texans have elected to go with makes Lindsay an RB4/5 option at best, despite the good matchup.

Aug 29th · 05:02 PM
Phillip Lindsay Struggles To Find Running Room Saturday

Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay totaled 17 rushing yards on six carries while seeing one target in the passing game in Saturday's loss to Tampa Bay. Lindsay was utilized in rotation with fellow backs Mark Ingram II and David Johnson- though running room was not easy to find, as evidenced by his 2.8 yards per carry average. The 27-year-old would seem to be the favorite for early-down rushing work, though being the leader in carries for a Houston offense expected to struggle isn't exactly the best recipe for fantasy relevance. Still, Lindsay is undoubtedly the top option in the backfield, with Ingram and Johnson seemingly past their primes, meaning the former could work his way to the lead back role at some point.

Jul 22nd · 03:13 AM
Phillip Lindsay A Potential Fantasy Steal

After three seasons in Denver, running back Phillip Lindsay joined the Houston Texans this offseason. While he's coming off of his worst NFL season, with just 502 yards and one rushing touchdown in 11 games, Lindsay is still a potential fantasy steal heading into the 2021 season. Houston has a lot of faces in their backfield including David Johnson, but Lindsay's going to just be in his age-27 season and has a pair of 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. Johnson's arguably been on the decline for a few years now, so don't be shocked to see Lindsay push Johnson for snaps early on and eventually earn the lead role. He'll start the year off as an RB3/Flex play, but there's RB2 upside for Lindsay as the season goes along. You can take a chance on him in the late rounds of your fantasy drafts.

Mar 20th · 02:11 AM
Texans Add Phillip Lindsay To Backfield

The Houston Texans signed Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay to a one-year deal worth $3.25 million on Friday, according to a source. The deal includes $1 million guaranteed and another $500,000 possible in incentives. Lindsay was a restricted free agent, but he and the Denver Broncos mutually agreed to part ways after he was relegated to backup duties behind Melvin Gordon III in 2020. The former undrafted free agent was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season in 2018 and had two straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons to begin his career, but he finished with just 118 carries, 502 yards and a touchdown in 11 games (eight starts) last year while fighting through injuries and ceding touches to Gordon. Lindsay will join a crowded backfield that includes David Johnson, Mark Ingram II and Buddy Howell. Expect Lindsay to be part of a committee, making him nothing more than a low-end RB3/flex in deeper leagues.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
