Quintez Cephus Officially Lands On Injured Reserve

The Detroit Lions officially placed wide receiver Quintez Cephus (collarbone) on the Injured Reserve on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, the team signed receiver Javon McKinley to the practice squad and released tight end Jared Pinkney from the practice squad. Cephus broke his collarbone in the Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and is likely to miss the rest of the season. Already one of the thinnest receiving units in the league, the Lions are likely to roll with Kalif Raymond, rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown and KhaDarel Hodge in three-wide sets heading into Week 6 with Tyrell Williams (concussion) still on Injured Reserve. Trinity Benson could also factor in. Cephus will finish his second season with 15 receptions (22 targets) for 204 yards and two touchdowns in five games.

Quintez Cephus Suffers Broken Collarbone

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus (collarbone) suffered a broken collarbone in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings. Cephus will undergo surgery and is facing a three-month absence, so his season is likely over. He was one of the lone bright spots of the offense up to this point, so the Lions will have to move forward without their top wide receiver. T.J. Hockenson and Amon-Ra St. Brown could handle an even greater target share without Cephus, as the rookie has seen eight targets in back-to-back games. St. Brown has some appeal in deeper leagues strictly based on volume, so he could be worth a bench stash as he will likely have a significant role to play for the Jared Goff-led offense.

Quintez Cephus Registers 38 Yards

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught three passes for 38 yards in the team's 19-17 loss to the Vikings in Week 5. Cephus caught all three of his targets in a game that featured little in the downfield passing game from the Lions. Cephus totaled 83 yards last week but his fantasy value is tied to a very mediocre Lions offense. The second-year receiver is not worth a roster spot in standard fantasy formats at this time.

Quintez Cephus Ruled Out In Week 5

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus (shoulder) won't return to Sunday's game against the Vikings. Cephus ends the day with three catches for 38 yards. If Cephus misses any time, Amon-Ra St. Brown would likely see a larger role in this offense moving forward, but there's not a lot of upside in fantasy with any Lions receivers, as quarterback Jared Goff is spreading the ball around between too many options.

Quintez Cephus Hard To Trust

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus will go up against a Vikings defense that is allowing the 13th most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season. Cephus has flashed in moments this season and is coming off a season-high 83 receiving yards in Week 4. But Cephus has matched a promising performance with a disappearing act the very next week and has not recorded more than four catches in a game yet this season. Cephus has talent and should continue to see plenty of snaps with the Lions thin at wide receiver but is not fantasy viable for Week 5.

Quintez Cephus Leads Lions With 83 Yards

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught four passes for a team-high 83 yards in the Lions 24-14 loss to the Bears. Cephus flashed with 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 but disappeared last week. The third-year receiver was able to spring free in the second half and found some room to run in the middle of the field. The Lions wide receivers are a rotating cast right now and Cephus will remain a risky play heading into Week 5.

Quintez Cephus Musters Only One Reception

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus was held to only one catch for eight yards in the team's 19-17 loss to the Ravens. One week after shining with 63 yards and a touchdown, Cephus faded into the background. The Lions are thin at wide receiver so Cephus could have a chance to bounce back after teammate Kalif Raymond stepped up this week. Detroit's wide receiver are not fantasy viable at this time.

Quintez Cephus' Value On The Rise

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus should get another chance to step up and make some plays Week 3 against the Ravens. Cephus' snap count saw quite an increase in Week 2 against the Packers with lead receiver Tyrell Williams (concussion) on the sidelines. The second-year receiver responded with four receptions for 63 yards with one touchdown and will get a chance to produce against a Ravens secondary that has stumbled out of the gate. Through the first two games, the Ravens defense has allowed the eighth most fantasy points to opposing receivers as six different receivers have already posted eight or more fantasy points against them. That's a solid floor to work with regarding Cephus and could be a DFS bargain this weekend.

Quintez Cephus Catches Touchdown In Defeat

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught four passes for 63 yards with one touchdown in the team's loss to the Packers in Week 2. With the Lions down lead receiver Tyrell Williams, Cephus stepped in and rose to the occasion. Cephus got the Lions on the board on the very first drive, snatching a five-yard catch to put the Lions up 7-0. Cephus saw seven targets in the game and certainly pleased the coaching staff with his play. Once Williams is healthy, however, Cephus' targets should diminish.

Quintez Cephus Could Have Role In Week 2

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus could see an increase in snaps this Sunday against the Packers. The Lions will be without lead receiver Tyrell Williams (concussion) and others must step up to fill the void. Cephus caught three passes on six targets in Week 1 but for only 12 yards. Cephus posted 54 yards against the Packers in Week 2 of last season but the second-year receiver will carry a very low floor in fantasy leagues heading into this weekend's action.

Quintez Cephus Catches Touchdown

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught three passes for 35 yards and one touchdown in the Lions final preseason game against the Colts. The second-year wideout capped off a 14-play drive with a 15-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. Cephus needed to show something to the coaching staff in this contest and consider that endeavor mission accomplished. Some have speculated that Cephus could be on the bubble to make the final roster but this strong showing should, in theory, secure his spot for Week 1.

Clock Is Ticking For Quintez Cephus

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus may be on the bubble to make the final roster heading into the team's final preseason game. Reports in the offseason indicated Cephus performed extremely well in OTA's but injuries and ineffectiveness has severely hampered his training camp. Cephus is a young talent but the current Lions front office did not draft him. The team has been impressed with the consistency and productivity of Tom Kennedy and Cephus may need to produce this weekend to hang on with the team.

Quintez Cephus Chips In 15 Yards

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught two passes for 15 yards in the team's exhibition loss to the Steelers. The second-year wideout was targeted three times in the game. Many have been hoping that Cephus takes a step forward this season after flashing his game breaking speed in the final games of last season. But it mostly has been a quiet camp for Cephus to this point and rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown may have already passed him on the depth chart. The good new is the Lions wide receivers room is wide open for someone to step up and that should keep Cephus in the mix for now.

Jul 23rd · 09:17 PM
Can Quintez Cephus Take The Next Step?

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus will have a great opportunity this season to earn more playing time. Cephus had a bumpy rookie campaign last season and caught 20 passes for 349 yards with two touchdowns. He was able to make some downfield plays last season and averaged 17.5 yards per catch but was inactive for three weeks of the season. Now the Lions have a new quarterback (Jared Goff) and a totally revamped wide receiving room that features journeyman like Tyrell Williams and Breshad Perriman. Cephus can certainly stretch the field with his speed but consistency will be key if the young receiver wants to succeed. Cephus is not a fantasy option at this time until some untapped potential rises to the surface.

Quintez Cephus Comes Up Big

Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught two passes for 63 yards, including his first NFL touchdown, in the Lions 34-30 win over the Bears in Week 13. The rookie came up with a huge play, hauling in a 49-yard bomb from quarterback Matthew Stafford for his first touchdown as a pro. Cephus has been a non-factor this season but injuries have forced him onto the field. Cephus' value could rise given more opportunity but is not fantasy viable just yet at this time.

Apr 25th · 07:45 PM
Quintez Cephus Heads To Detroit

The Detroit Lions selected Wisconsin wide receiver Quintez Cephus with the No. 166 overall pick in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Cephus isn't huge (6-foot-1, 202 pounds), but he's built and shows great after-the-catch skills down the field. The big concern with Cephus is his small hands, as he dropped too many passes in college. He could be quickly out of a roster spot in Detroit if that concern continues into the next level. It takes him a while to reach top speed off the line, and he won't be running by many cornerbacks in the NFL.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
