Sterling Shepard Limited In Walkthrough Practice

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) was listed as limited in the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. It's nice that he was listed as limited, but that was also the case in recent weeks before he was inactive on game day. Shepard hasn't suited up since Week 8, but with Kenny Golladay (ribs) and rookie Kadarius Toney (oblique, quadriceps) up in the air for Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Shepard could be the team's No. 1 receiver if he's able to continue practicing the rest of the week. But even if the 28-year-old is active, he'd be at risk of being eased back into the offense and would likely be taking passes from either Mike Glennon (concussion) or Jake Fromm. Fantasy managers would be wise to stay away from New York's beat up group of pass-catchers.

Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney Won't Play Sunday

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) and Kadarius Toney (oblique, quadriceps) won't play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Shepard and Toney were listed as doubtful on the final Week 13 injury report, so this shouldn't surprise anyone. Shepard hasn't played since Week 8, while Toney will miss his second straight game. The Giants have had one of the most injured receiving corps all year long, which hasn't helped their inconsistent offense. Fantasy managers should find it hard to trust Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton this weekend with backup quarterback Mike Glennon taking over for the injured Daniel Jones (neck), who could also miss Week 14.

Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney Doubtful For Week 13

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) and Kadarius Toney (oblique, quadriceps) are both listed as doubtful to play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. So the injury woes continue for the Giants. Shepard was looking closer to a return this week by getting in some limited practice work, but he'll miss yet another game and has been out since Week 8. Toney is likely to miss his second straight week of action with multiple injuries. Now that quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) is out in Week 13 and potentially beyond, wideouts Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton, who weren't particularly attractive in fantasy to begin with, need to be further downgraded with Mike Glennon drawing his first start of 2021 on Sunday against a blitz-happy Dolphins D.

Sterling Shepard Has An Outside Chance To Play

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) is doing light work at practice on Thursday and has an outside chance to play in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins. Shepard was listed as not practicing on Wednesday, so this represents some progress. But it's also not a ringing endorsement to consider him in fantasy lineups this weekend, since Shepard has been out since suffering his quad injury in Week 8. The 28-year-old was involved heavily in the passing attack in his first five games of the season, but there's a good chance that he'll have his snaps limited if he's back on Sunday against the Dolphins. That'll make him a pretty risky WR4/flex if he's active this weekend.

Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney Miss Practice

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) and Kadarius Toney (oblique, quadriceps) both missed practice on Wednesday. Shepard hasn't played since Week 8. He's been productive when on the field in five games, but it's unrealistic to expect him to have a big workload if he's able to get back on the practice field later this week and play in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins. Toney has looked electric with the ball in his hands in his rookie season, but he missed last week due to injury, and both Shepard and Toney might be taking passes from backup quarterback Mike Glennon if they are active this weekend, which further lowers their fantasy appeal this weekend. Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton will be New York's top-two pass-catchers if Shepard and Toney continue to miss time.

Sterling Shepard Looks Ready to Return

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) looked like someone who is on track to play this week, in the opinion of Newsday's Tom Rock. Obviously, it's still early in the week, so we need to keep an eye on Shepard's progression in practice, but this is a nice step. Rookie Kadarius Toney (quad) is also coming back from his own injury, so his involvement in practice will determine how excited we are about Shepard, but all of the Giants passing options would need to be downgraded if quarterback Mike Glennon is under center in place of Daniel Jones (neck). However, Shepard could be a safety valve for Glennon, which would give him some value in deeper leagues if he's indeed active.

Giants Hope Sterling Shepard Can Return In Week 13

The New York Giants are hopeful that Sterling Shepard (quad) will return for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. He hasn't played since Week 8 due to a quadriceps injury. The 28-year-old will try to practice this week. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is expected to miss Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, a downgrade to New York's offensive skilled position players. Shepard has been productive when on the field, hauling in 32 catches for 324 yards and a touchdown over five games in 2021. Shepard is in the flex conversation in PPR formats if he does suit up for Sunday's game against Miami.

Nov 26th · 09:01 PM
Sterling Shepard To Miss Another Game

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing practice all week. Tight end Kaden Smith (knee) was also ruled out. Shepard has now been out since Week 8 and doesn't exactly seem close to a return. With rookie Kadarius Toney (quadriceps) also doubtful to play this Sunday after not practicing all week, Kenny Golladay, Darius Slayton and John Ross could be the team's top three receivers this weekend. Golladay had just two targets in Monday night's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but we'd expect him to be more involved on Sunday after the Giants fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett earlier this week.

Nov 26th · 06:26 PM
Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard Not Expected To Play

New York Giants wide receivers Kadarius Toney (quadriceps) and Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) were not seen at practice on Friday during the period open to the media, and ESPN New York's Jordan Raanan doesn't expect either pass-catcher to play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Toney and Shepard have missed practice all week, so fantasy managers should look elsewhere if they were planning to use them in a starting spot this weekend. Toney, a first-round pick this year, had seven catches on 12 targets for 40 yards in Monday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Shepard has been out since Week 8. Expect Kenny Golladay to see more than two targets in Week 12 against the Eagles, while Darius Slayton and John Ross should also have bigger roles in the passing game.

Nov 26th · 02:17 AM
Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney Miss Thursday's Practice

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) and Kadarius Toney (quadriceps) did not practice on Thursday. Shepard has now missed back-to-back practices and is trending in the wrong direction to play in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since injuring his quad in the Week 10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Shepard is the Giants' primary slot receiver, catching 32-of-43 targets for 323 yards and one touchdown in five games in 2021. Toney exited the Week 11 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a bruised quad and has been unable to practice this week. He caught seven passes for 40 yards in last Monday's loss. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and be on the lookout for Friday's injury report. Kenny Golladay, Darius Slayton, John Ross, and Collin Johnson would all see an uptick in targets if Shepard and Toney were ruled out. Stay tuned.

Sterling Shepard Doesn't Practice Wednesday

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) did not practice on Wednesday. Shepard was seen on the field early in the day, but he didn't actually get in any practice reps. The 28-year-old has been out since Week 8, but he could be getting closer to returning for the Giants. He has been involved plenty when healthy, as he's caught 32 of 43 targets for 323 yards and one touchdown in five games played, but it's been really hard to rely on any Giants pass-catchers this year with any kind of weekly consistency given their terrible offensive line. Shepard could be a decent WR3/flex option in PPR leagues once he's back to full health, but until then, rookie Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay will be the team's primary pass-catchers.

Nov 24th · 04:50 PM
Sterling Shepard Returns To Practice On Wednesday

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quad) returned to practice on Wednesday just as fellow receiver Kadarius Toney missed practice with the same quad injury. It's too early in the week to say if this means Shepard will definitely play and Toney will not, but it is something to monitor. However, the entire outlook for the Giants offense is up in the air after the firing of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. We'd love to see the Giants open it up more, but the Eagles defense is designed to stop deep passes and funnel production underneath, so that may limit the explosiveness of the offense, regardless of who calls plays on Sunday. Nevertheless, Shepard has been a productive receiver when healthy and should be picked up in all leagues where he is available.

Nov 20th · 05:58 PM
Sterling Shepard Won't Return On Monday Night

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the Week 11 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. Shepard wasn't able to get on the practice field all week and has not played since Week 8. The 28-year-old has been a popular target for quarterback Daniel Jones when healthy, but staying healthy has been a problem for him in 2021. He's played in only five games and has 32 catches for 324 yards and one touchdown. In Shepard's absence, Kenny Golladay and rookie Kadarius Toney could both put up solid numbers for fantasy managers against a Buccaneers secondary that has been beat up all season long. Darius Slayton will most likely serve as the No. 3 pass-catcher with Shepard sidelined again.

Nov 20th · 12:52 AM
Sterling Shepard Still Absent From Practice Friday

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) took part in individual drills on Friday but was ultimately listed as a non-participant for the second straight day. It doesn't look like Shepard is ready to return coming out of the bye week, so fantasy managers should plan on using him in Week 11 on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Shepard misses another game, Kenny Golladay, rookie Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton should work in three-receiver sets against a very vulnerable Tampa Bay secondary that just put cornerback Richard Sherman (calf) on Injured Reserve this week. Shepard has been out since Week 8 and has managed to play in only five games this year due to injury.

Nov 18th · 09:53 PM
Sterling Shepard Doesn't Participate In Practice

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quad) did not participate in practice on Thursday. Shepard started the season hot with 28 receptions and 299 yards in his first four games; unfortunately, since then, his season has been derailed by injuries. The wideout has been bothered by this quad injury for quite some time, and it doesn't seem to be going away quite yet. The reports have generally seemed more positive lately, so perhaps the 28-year-old can make a late-season return to fantasy relevance, but in addition to accounting for the already crowded wide receiver room and a bad quarterback, things don't look great. If needed, Shepard can be dropped in all standard leagues, but once he returns, he should be watched closely on the waiver wire.

Nov 16th · 01:19 PM
Devontae Booker, Sterling Shepard Absent In Monday's Practice

New York Giants running back Devontae Booker (hip) and Sterling Shepard (quad) did not participate in Monday's practice. Booker was absent due to a personal matter while Shepard worked on the side with the trainers. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation, but both players will have an extra day to practice during the week with the Giants' playing on Monday. Booker injured his hip late in the Week 9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth quarter. The 29-year-old said his hip feels excellent and is expected to play Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his role in the offense relies on the health of star running back Saquon Barkley (COVID-19, ankle). Shepard has missed four games this season due to multiple injuries and has yet to practice over the last few weeks. The 28-year-old remains day-to-to-day with a left quad strain.

Nov 5th · 07:07 PM
Sterling Shepard Ruled Out In Week 9

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the Week 9 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders after he suffered a new quad injury in the Monday night loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The good news is that the Giants go on their bye next week, so there's a chance that Shepard will be ready to go in Week 11. Kenny Golladay (knee) has a chance to return for the first time since Week 5, and if he does, he and rookie Kadarius Toney (ankle) figure to serve as the team's top two pass-catchers against Las Vegas. Dante Pettis (shoulder) was placed on Injured Reserve on Friday, so Darius Slayton could also have an elevated role this weekend.

Nov 4th · 09:45 PM
Sterling Shepard Continues To Miss Practice This Week

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) and Dante Pettis (shoulder) both missed a second day of practice this week on Thursday after they were both injured in the Monday night loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. John Ross (quadriceps) was also added to the Week 9 injury report and was limited on Thursday. Shepard and Pettis look likely to miss Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, while Kenny Golladay (knee) could make his return after getting injured in Week 5. If Golladay is able to return, he, rookie Kadarius Toney and Darius Slayton figure to serve as the Giants top three wideouts against Las Vegas. Shepard, who has also missed time with a hamstring injury this year, will have the Week 10 bye to rest up, so hopefully he'll be able to return in Week 11.

Nov 3rd · 12:32 PM
Sterling Shepard Expected To Miss Time With A Quad Strain

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quad) is expected to "miss some time" with a quad strain, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN. He suffered a quad injury in the second quarter in a Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Shepard battled a hamstring earlier in the year and is now dealing with a quad injury. The Giants have a bye week in Week 10; the 28-year-old is expected to be ruled out for Sunday's Week 9 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders. Kadarius Toney, John Ross, and Darius Slayton should see an increase in target share while Shepard is sidelined.

Nov 2nd · 02:13 AM
Sterling Shepard Injured Again Monday Night And Won't Return

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) suffered a quad injury at the end of the second quarter on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs and has been ruled out for the rest of the contest. Shepard has been battling a hamstring injury for most of the season, but it was his quad that gave out on him in this game. Dante Pettis (shoulder) was also injured earlier in the game and won't return. The Giants were already without Kenny Golladay (knee), so now they'll be down to rookie Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton and John Ross as their top three receivers against KC. Knowing Shepard, there's a good chance he won't play in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Shepard caught four of his seven targets for only 25 yards before suffering the quad injury.

Nov 1st · 11:09 PM
Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard Officially Active Monday

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) are officially active for Monday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Giants offense will get a boost as QB Daniel Jones will get two of his top weapons back for Monday Night Football. Shepard has played in one contest over the last four weeks; he's racked up 28 catches for 299 yards and a touchdown in 2021. Toney returns after a one-week absence and has hauled in 19 receptions for 303 yards over his last three games. Fantasy managers can safely insert Toney or Shepard into their starting lineups in Week 8.

Nov 1st · 03:06 PM
Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard Expected To Play

New York Giants wide receivers Kadarius Toney (ankle) and Sterling Shepard (hamstring) are reportedly expected to play on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs after being listed as questionable. Toney missed Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers after aggravating his ankle injury in the first quarter of Week 6, where he posted three catches or 36 yards on the first five offensive plays of the game. Shepard missed the game against the Panthers last week, after posting 10 catches for 76 yards on 14 targets against the Rams in Week 6. With Kenny Golladay (knee) out on Monday night, Toney and Shepard will be the top two targets for Daniel Jones against an extremely vulnerable Chiefs defense. Both receivers can be inserted into starting lineups with confidence as the two of them figure to get the bulk of the targets in a game where a pass-heavy game script will likely be necessary.

Oct 30th · 04:53 PM
Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney Questionable For Monday

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) are both listed as questionable for the Week 8 game on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both receivers missed the Week 7 win over the Carolina Panthers, but they are both expected to return on Monday night in a game where the Giants could have to throw a lot. And with Kenny Golladay (knee) out for another game, both Shepard and Toney could make noise with plenty of targets for their fantasy managers. When healthy, Shepard has been one of quarterback Daniel Jones' favorite targets, catching 28 of his 36 targets for 299 yards and a TD in four games. Toney, a rookie, had 10 catches (13 targets) for 189 yards in his last full game in Week 5.

Oct 30th · 12:36 PM
Sterling Shepard Limited In Friday's Practice

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (hamstring) was a limited participant in Friday's practice. He was limited for the second consecutive day and is considered questionable for Monday's game against the Kansas Chiefs. The 28-year-old has missed three games due to hamstring injuries. Fantasy managers should monitor Saturday's injury report and have a backup plan in place if the Giants veteran is ruled out. If Shepard is ruled out, Darius Slayton, Dante Pettis, Kadarius Toney (ankle), and John Ross would see an uptick in targets. Toney was also a limited participant in Friday's practice and has a shot to suit up for Monday's game. Stay tuned for further updates.

Oct 28th · 09:26 PM
Sterling Shepard Feeling Good

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is feeling good now. It still remains unclear as to who of the Giants lengthy list of injured wideouts will play on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, but if the likes of Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney are ruled out, Shepard may find himself as the last man standing in an extremely favorable matchup. When Shepard has been healthy this season, regardless of who else is on the field, he has put up numbers, especially in PPR leagues. Even after returning from an injury in Week 6, the 28-year-old caught 10 passes for 76 yards. A lot remains uncertain for the Giants, including if Shepard himself is healthy, but in the somewhat likely situation that everything falls in Shepard's favor, he could be a WR2 this week.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
