Today, I’ll be projecting the expected pitches, strikes and strikeouts for Noah Syndergaard tonight against the New York Yankees. Syndergaard is one of three pitchers (David Price, Stephen Strasburg) in the Awesemo.com Presents: $1,000,000 Perfect Line Bonus + $4,000GTD – Back In Business ($1,250 to 1st!) contest.

Your PlayLine predictions are scored according to the chart below. It’s really simple. The closer your PlayLine is to the athlete’s actual performance, the more points you get. The more points you get, the better your chances of winning!

You will receive PlayLine points each time the featured athlete registers a stat that you predicted will occur. Once the athlete’s actual stat total in a particular category goes over your prediction, you will no longer receive additional per stat PlayLine points.

The matchup for Syndergaard against the Yankees is a little bit below average, as the Bronx Bombers have a 111 wRC+ and .204 ISO (best in MLB) against RHP, showing the ability to get pitchers out of the game early. Syndergaard also struggles with stolen bases, however, the Yankees don’t tend to swipe a ton of bags, so it shouldn’t be a huge concern tonight.

Above you can see Syndergaard’s averages for the season, but he is a little bit tricky in this contest because he’s making only his 2nd start since the end of May after an extended stay on the DL. In his first start against the Nationals, he went 75 pitches with 49 strikes and 3 strikeouts in what was a tougher strikeout matchup than tonight.

With the Mets not going anywhere this year, I would expect them to be careful with Syndergaard’s pitch count and not push him past 95 pitches as they get him stretched out for the 2nd half. The Yankees have the 8th-highest K-rate against righties this year (23.5%), so if he can be efficient, the strikeouts will be there, especially against guys like Stanton, Judge, and Bird, who all strikeouts above 25% against righties.

I think Syndergaard has an efficient outing in about 6 innings, striking out 8 Yankees on 91 pitches and 62 strikes as he gets back to early-season form in first game of the Subway series between the 2 clubs from New York.
