Aaron Rodgers Not Expected To Return To Packers For Time Being

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been the talk of the NFL this offseason after it was reported that he doesn’t not want to return to the team under any circumstances.

Sure enough, Rodgers was absent from the team’s OTAs. But with mandatory minicamp starting on Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers still were unsure on the status of their reigning MVP.

To no one’s surprise, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is reporting that Rodgers will not be showing up to the start of minicamp.

“Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers is not expected to attend Green Bay’s mandatory minicamp that starts Tuesday, per sources,” Schefter wrote in a tweet.  “Green Bay could opt to fine him $93,085 for his absences or it could make it an excused absence and waive the fine. But Rodgers is not expected there.”

Aaron Rodgers had been living it up in Hawaii with fiancee Shailene Woodley recently. And he has remained mum on if he’ll ever show up to the Packers if he isn’t traded before the season starts.

The Green Bay Packers have invested a lot time into the development of backup quarterback Jordan Love, but it doesn’t appear that the team (or anyone else) is confident in Love’s abilities to take over under center quite yet.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how all of this plays out with Aaron Rodgers. It’s only a matter of time before he decides to show up before the season or not.
