Arsenal Goalie Arthur Okonkwo Has Embarrassing Slip-Up Lead To Goal

Arsenal rookie goalie Arthur Okonkwo is an up-and-coming prospect in the premier league. And he got the start today in the club’s club friendly match against Hibernian of the Scottish Premiership.

It ended up being a day to forget for Okonkwo.

In the middle of the first half, one of Hibernian’s players floated a ball towards Arthur Okonkwo. Instead of catching the ball, Okonkwo tried to kick the ball away. But he completely whiffed, and the Hibs were able to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Hibernian would go on to upset Arthur Okonkwo and the Arsenal squad 2-1, in what ended up being a rather disappointing start to the Summer season for the Gunners.

While it was just a friendly, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was still not pleased with his team’s effort.

“There’s no excuse because we want to come here and win the match,” Arteta said, via EuroSport.com. “They worked really hard, the boys worked really hard and you could see that some of them were not in the best condition, but we’re still very early in pre-season. It was great to see some of the young lads making their debuts here. We’ll keep working.”

Arsenal will have another friendly against Rangers on Saturday. And I’m not sure we’ll see the young Arthur Okonkwo in net, yet again.
