Baker Mayfield Checks In Following Successful Shoulder Surgery

Baker Mayfield is checking in.

The Cleveland Browns starting QB is hoping that his surgery on Wednesday to repair the fully torn labrum in his left shoulder results in a much better version of himself, both physically and personally.

“Hey everybody, just wanted to check in,’’ Mayfield, his left arm in a black sling, said in a video on Twitter after undergoing the procedure in Los Angeles. “The surgery went great. It was a complete success. I had a great medical team that took care of me and checked that box off to get this fixed and now it’s on the way to the road to recovery.’’

Mayfield noted that the injury and it’s aftermath took a toll not only on him but those around him.

“This is one of those steps to get back to my true self,’’ he said. “This past year hasn’t been very easy. A lot of stuff has gone down and it wasn’t easy on me or my family.’’

He thanked all of the fans who have sent prayers and well-wishes over the past few weeks and vowed to keep everyone updated on his progress.

“All of the prayers and everything, it definitely did not go unnoticed,’’ he said. “So thank you. Thanks everybody that’s helped out so far. Now it’s on the way to the road to recovery. It’s not going to be an easy one, but it’s going to be one that I’m going to remember and it’s going to be a special one, so we’ll keep you guys updated. Thank you so much.’’

He also stressed that this is just the beginning for him. He had high hopes for this season, and can’t wait to get back at it in 2022..

“This is not the end of my story,’’ he said. “It’s just going to be one of those little things that I’ll look back and remember that it’s one of those challenges and adversity that I’m going to try and take advantage of and it will make me a better person. So thank you for everybody that’s reached out once again. Let’s go get it.’’k you for everybody that’s reached out once again. Let’s go get it.’’

Baker Mayfield has definitely  turned things around in Cleveland, but it looks like he’s taken them as  far as he possibly can.

Is he a great QB?

No, but he does seem to be a decent enough leader.  Baker might just need a change of scenery to get his career back on track…
