Brian Gutekunst’s Admission About Aaron Rodgers Proves That He Still Doesn’t Get It

It’s no secret that the main reason why Aaron Rodgers is so fed up with the Packers has to do with how general manager Brian Gutekunst has kept him out of the loop and refused to give him a seat at the table before making roster decisions.

But when Gutekunst was asked about how he could have handled Rodgers differently in recent years, he still pointed to the Jordan Love situation.

Earlier in the week, Aaron Rodgers had a long press conference where he detailed all the reasons why he was upset with Brian Gutekunst and the Packers’ brass. He also made a point to mention that his frustration started long before Jordan Love was ever drafted.

“This wasn’t a draft day thing,” Rodgers said. “It started with a conversation in February. I just expressed my desire to be involved in conversations directly affecting my job.”

Aaron Rodgers was clearly upset when the Packers moved on from Jordy Nelson, let Randall Cobb go, and cut receiver Jake Kumerow after Aaron praised his work ethic.

This isn’t really about Jordan Love if you read between the lines at what Rodgers has said. This is about Brian Gutekunst’s decision to not keep his future Hall of Fame quarterback in the loop when it comes to decisions that drastically affect his offense and his team.

Gutekunst’s media scrambling act with Aaron Rodgers is just another example of how messed up the power dynamic currently is in Green Bay, and serves as a reminder why the Packers are going to lose the reigning MVP following this season.
