Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians called out Bill Belichick and the Patriots for copying his offense with the big showdown looming on Sunday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians has a lot to thank Bill Belichick and the Patriots for.

After all, it was the Patriots who let Tom Brady walk out the door – which led to the epic Super Bowl championship in the first year with Arians and the Bucs. But it appears that Bruce Arians actually has some beef with the Patriots.

Earlier in the week, Bill Belichick pointed out that Tom Brady plays in a similar offense with Bruce Arians as he did with the Patriots.

“It’s the offense he’s run his whole career,” Belichick told reporters. “Well, I mean as it evolved here, but the running game is the running game. The running game is different, but the passing game is the passing game. It’s pretty similar, you could call most every play from the flare control to the protection. You know, similar to the way we do it.”

When speaking on Belichick’s comments, Bruce Arians took issue. The coach would accuse the Patriots of ‘copying’ stuff out of his offense and using it with Tom Brady for all those years.

“I think they [Patriots] copied a lot of ours so it’s probably the same,” Arians said, per “Ask them which film they watch every week. They always picked ours up and watched it, so it’s the same stuff.”

This isn’t the first time that Bruce Arians has thrown shade at Belichick’s operation with the Patriots.

When speaking on how Brady operates during practice, Arians claimed that the GOAT is used more efficiently because he’s being let coach.

“Consummate leader,” Arians explained. “Has been all year. Got the air of confidence that permeates through our team every day. I allow him to be himself. Like, New England didn’t allow him to coach. I allow him to coach. I just sit back sometimes and watch.”

There are a ton of storylines when Brady returns to Foxboro this weekend. But somewhere deep in there is an apparent rift that Bruce Arians has with the Patriots.
