Cade Cunningham Credits His Daughter Riley For Being His Motivation

The Detroit Pistons are likely to select Oklahoma State star Cade Cunningham with the first pick in the NBA Draft tonight.Cunningham has been a phenom for a while now, and was a one-and-done player in college.

While Cade keeps his personal life mostly private, he beams when talking about his two-year-old daughter, Riley.

Cade Cunningham opened up about how much joy Riley brings him when he did an interview prior to OSU’s trip to the NCAA Tournament last season.

Via Adam Zagoria of Forbes:

“She’s everything,” the 6-foot-8 freshman point guard said Tuesday on a conference call after being named to the Associated Press All-America First-Team. “I don’t know, she’s like a bundle of happiness in a 2-year-old body. It’s not enough words, really, that’s my daughter. She’s everything right now, she’s my motivation and all that.”

Cade Cunningham tweeted about his daughter back in 2020, when he referred to Riley as his, “world”.

Cade Cunningham likely could have played college basketball at any blue blood program of his choice. But it appears that he chose Oklahoma State mainly because he wanted to be close enough to his daughter, who was born while he was still playing basketball at Monteverde (FL) Academy.

It’s not clear who Riley Cunningham’s mother is, but Cade Cunningham was originally from Arlington, Texas, so the best bet might be that she was born around there.

Either way, the future looks bright for both Cade and Riley Cunningham.
