Dominant USA swimmer Caleb Dressel opened up about how unenjoyable and tough the Olympics was with all the pressure he felt

Team USA swimmer Caeleb Dressel really made a name for himself at the Tokyo Olympics, winning five gold medals and setting world record along the way. But he’s probably happy that it’s over.

Following his win on Sunday, Dressel opened up on how draining the Olympics were for him. And got honest when talking about how unenjoyable the whole process was, at times.

“This is not easy, not an easy week at all,” Dressel said via NY Post. “Some parts were extremely enjoyable. I would say the majority of them were not. You can’t sleep right, you can’t nap, shaking all the time. I probably lost 10 pounds. I’m going to weigh myself and eat some food when I get back. It’s a lot of stress we put on the body.”

Caeleb Dressel would go on to say that the Olympics isn’t necessarily supposed to be a very enjoyable process.

“It’s not the most enjoyable process, but it is worth it,” Dressel said. “Every part of it is worth it. Just cause it’s bad doesn’t mean it’s not worth it.”

Caeleb Dressel is obviously not the only athlete at the Tokyo Olympics who has been open about how hard having the pressure of an entire country is. Much has been made about Simone Biles withdrawing from a few events due to mental health, and Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka also pointed to the pressure after she was ousted in the second round.

For now, Caeleb Dressel is a legend for his efforts this past week. But he’s probably relieved to be able to take a step back now that the whole thing is over.
