Cal McNair’s ‘Hate’ For Deshaun Watson Reportedly Driving Factor In Trade Talks

Houston Texans owner Cal McNair has had enough of Deshaun Watson.

Prior to all the allegations, Watson demanded to be traded away from the Texans. And it appeared that a lot of the animosity stemmed from McNair and his inability to run a successful franchise.

When speaking on the efforts to trade Deshaun Watson ahead of the upcoming Trade Deadline, SI’s Albert Breer spoke on the mutual distaste between Watson and Cal McNair.

“The owner and Watson freaking hate each other,” Breer said on Toucher & Rich Podcast. “The owner hates Deshaun.”

Cal McNair has maintained that he’s been hands-off with the Deshaun Watson investigation and trade talks. But I find it hard to believe that the owner has no part of the conversation if he’s letting it leak that he can’t stand the quarterback.

Just this week, it was reported that the Dolphins had a deal in place with the Texans for Watson, but wanted a resolution from the investigation.

“The Texans could finally be getting closer to trading quarterback Deshaun Watson to the Miami Dolphins — a team they play Nov. 7,” John McClain of the Houston Chronicle wrote. “Even though the NFL trading deadline isn’t until Nov. 2, a deal could go down this week, according to people familiar with the negotiations.”

Even if a deal isn’t imminent, it’s becoming clear that Cal McNair will feel relived when he no longer has to deal with Deshaun Watson.
