12-Team College Football Playoff Expansion Reportedly ‘A Go’

After a large outcry from college football fans, it appears as though an expansion is coming. But fans are going to have to wait.

According to Dan Patrick, the college football playoff committee has approved a 12 team playoff expansion system. But the whole thing is going to take time, and fans likely won’t see the finished product until around 2025.

“A 12 Team College Football Playoff is a go. But they want to get it done for next season. If it’s not approved in December, the Playoff won’t be a go with 12 teams until 2025,” Patrick said on his show.

Dan Patrick would add that the committee is hoping to get this deal done in the next couple of weeks.

While the playoff system in place probably works a lot better than the BCS system, it’s still not enough. Fans voice their displeasure with a team not getting into the elusive top-four every week. And change is likely needed.

A 12-team College Football Playoff would be a step in the right direction. And hopefully Dan Patrick is right that an announcement is coming soon.
