Damian Lillard Says Portland Should Retire LaMarcus Aldridge’s Number

It was announced earlier today that newly-acquired Brooklyn Nets center LaMarcus Aldridge was surprisingly retiring due to a scary heart issue.

After the news, longtime Portland teammate and friend Damian Lillard declared that he thinks LaMarcus should have his number up in the rafters in Portland.

“It’s time for the Blazers to retire #12,” Lillard said on “Jalen & Jacoby” upon hearing the news that Aldridge had retired. “He had an amazing career in a Trail Blazers uniform.”

LaMarcus Aldridge played the first nine years of his career in a Portland uniform, before leaving for San Antonio. During his time as a Blazer, Aldridge put up some of the best stats in their franchises’ history.

LaMarcus Aldridge certainly has a case for his number to be retired. I would think that Damian Lillard’s endorsement goes a long way, as well.
