Denver Broncos GM Doesn’t Commit To QB Situation Amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors

During the media firestorm that came after the report that superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay, it was actually reported that the Denver Broncos had a trade in place for Rodgers.

Unfortunately for Broncos fans, the trade didn’t materialize during the first round of the NFL Draft. In fact, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told a pool of reporters after day one of the draft that he will not be trading Aaron Rodgers despite his wishes.

Amid all the noise, Broncos GM George Paton was asked about his QB situation with Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater. He didn’t instill much confidence that he was satisfied.

“Drew (Lock)’s been working hard every day,” Paton said, via ProFootballTalk. “Teddy (Bridgewater)’s going to bring some experience to the room, some leadership. So we’re really excited for both quarterbacks. We’re always looking at every position and quarterback’s another one, but we like the two we have.”

George Paton definitely knows he doesn’t have the quarterbacks to compete for a championship right now. That would change if he can somehow find a way to land Aaron Rodgers.

My guess? Paton and other GMs will continue to call the Packers on Rodgers all weekend. And the Packers are likely going to continue to say no. It’s worth a shot to exhaust every chance to land a QB of Rodgers’ caliber.
