DK Metcalf Shows Out In 100 Meter Dash At USATF Golden Games

The whole world already knew Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is one fast dude.

In case you forgot, here’s a friendly reminder for you:

That play was the driving force behind a campaign that ultimately landed Metcalf a spot in the Olympic track and field trials. The Seahawks wideout made his pro track debut this weekend at the USATF Golden Games in Walnut, California, this weekend.

He may not have advanced beyond his semifinal heat in the 100-meter dash, but Metcalf hung right with some of the country’s top professional sprinters.

For a man of Metcalf’s size and build, that is truly an impressive showing.

Of course, a whole bunch of track and field snobs took pleasure in dissecting everything wrong with his form. But even though he didn’t win the heat or even finish well enough to advance, Metcalf hung right with the other pro runners.

For all you math nerds out there, that’s a finishing time of just .27 seconds slower than the heat winner.

I don’t think the average person quite understands just how hard it is to go from being a professional in one sport to another. The fact that DK Metcalf not only showed up but hung with the competition on Sunday is truly insane.

Of course, if anyone can just decide to give another sport a whirl at the professional level on a total whim, it’s probably a guy who looks like this:

The former Ole Miss standout is an absolute freak. It wouldn’t surprise me if today’s showing on the track only fires him up to come back faster in his next race.
