Dwyane Wade Finally Responds to Boosie For Talking Smack About His Transgender Child

Dwyane Wade finally responds to Boosie. During an I Am Athlete podcast episode, which also featured Brandon Marshall, Fred Taylor, Channing Crowder and Ryan Clark discussing their family life,  Wade opened up about Zaya’s transgender journey.

“People don’t want to hear this shit and don’t believe this shit,” he said. “At three years old, me and my wife looked at each other and said, ‘What if?’ What if, at the time, the name was Zion, comes home one day and says, ‘Dad I’m gay,’ or ‘Dad, I’m this, I’m that.’ What are you going to do, sir?”

From there, he brought up Boosie’s previous comments about Zaya who Boosie believed was too young to determine her gender.

“All the people who got something to say about my kids, I thank you because you allowing the conversation to keep going forward. Because you know what? We might not have all the answers, but we’re growing from each conversation. So I thank everybody for even hating and starting those conversations — because those conversations are starting other conversations.”

Boosie’s original comments followed an interview the former NBA star did with Good Morning America in February 2020 in which he discussed Zaya’s decision to identify as female.

“I gotta say something about this shit,” he said on Instagram at the time. “Dwyane Wade, you’ve gone too fucking far, bro. That is a male. A 12-year-old. At 12, they don’t even know what they next meal gonna be. They don’t have shit figured out yet. He might meet a woman at 16 and fall in love with her, but his dick be gone.

“How you gonna … like, bro, you going to too far, dawg. Don’t cut his dick off, bro. Like, bro, for real. If he gonna be gay, let him be gay, but don’t cut his dick off, bro. Don’t address him as a woman, dawg. He’s 12 years old. He’s not up there yet. He hasn’t made his final decisions yet. Don’t cut his fucking dick off Dwyane Wade. You fuckin’ trippin, dawg.”
