On Monday, UFC president Dana White announced that an interim title fight between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane is set to take place on August 7.

Shortly after the fight was announced, Francis Ngannou took to social media to share his belief that Dana White didn’t give him the same chance in the past.

Dana White tried to book a Derrick Lewis-Francis Ngannou fight for the belt at first. However, Ngannou informed the UFC that he would not be able to get his body ready bu August 7.

In the meantime, the UFC made the surprising decision to give Ciryl Game a chance for the belt following his dominant win over Alexander Volkov this past weekend.

“This is the type of challenge that we love in MMA FACTORY: How to finish Lewis without getting caught by that bomb he possesses,” Gane’s manager and coach, Fernand Lopez, told ESPN. “Ciryl and myself are so excited for this one.”
