Iconic NBA Announcer Marv Albert To Retire At The End Of The Playoffs

The New York Post announced on Saturday that iconic NBA announcer Marv Albert would be retiring at the end of the NBA Playoffs this season.

Albert, who turns 80 next month, has been calling NBA games for nearly 60 years, and is regarded by many to be the most well-known voice of the NBA. He is a Brooklyn native and Hall-of-Famer. Albert worked his first NBA game for the New York Knicks as a 21-year-old in 1963, filling in for Marty Glickman, on WCBS Radio.

On Thursday it was reported that his partner Chris Webber would not be around to call playoff games because Webber will not be brought back next season. Webber’s not returning and Albert’s retiring are not related. It is yet to be seen who will be Marv Albert’s partner during his last NBA playoff run.
