The Utah Jazz announced that former Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade will join its ownership group. The small ownership group has previously consisted of tech leaders, including legendary investor and Accel partner Ryan Sweeney, and Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes in addition to the Miller family. Today they announced the addition of Wade.
“Dwyane is not only a basketball legend, he is also a great leader, businessman, and human being,” said Ryan Smith, NBA governor of the Utah Jazz. “As we continue to build on the incredible legacy of the Utah Jazz franchise, we are excited to add Dwyane’s experience and expertise to the equation. Utah is an amazing place and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the future of the franchise and the future of this state. Dwyane’s influence will be important to both.”

Not much doubt that this reflects some lingering ill will with the @MiamiHEAT.
If @MickyArison offered him to be part of the ownership group here, why would he not take him up on that?
Does this move taint his place on the South Florida Sports Mt. Rushmore? https://t.co/32eavnXyTy

Dwyane Wade is the definition of "beating the odds."
• Grew up on the South Side of Chicago
• Parents split up when he was a kid
• Surrounded by drugs & gangs
He's now a future NBA Hall-of-Famer, an active philanthropist & part-owner of the Utah Jazz.

Gabrielle Union starred in my favorite movie, and I’ve always loved D Wade as a fan. I promised myself I’d be at his last game in Utah and I was so happy I made it. Thinking of them being involved in the Jazz and seeing them sitting courtside makes me so happy. 🥲 It’s so right.

Always weird to see a guy own a team he has very little to do with. In a perfect world Michael Jordan would own the Bulls, and Wade would own the Heat.
That never ends up happening though.
