IOC member Dick Pound (who previously felt uneasy on the Peng Shuai interview) now says that he feels she is 'fine' and in no immediate danger

Tennis star Peng Shuai still hasn’t spoken publicly since she went missing for a short period of time after accusing a Chinese politician of sexual assault.

But she spoke in a Zoom call with the Olympics Committee – where she maintained that she was safe and not in present danger from the government.

After reviewing the interview, IOC member Dick Pound says the committee came to the ‘unanimous conclusion’ that Peng Shuai was safe at this time.

“Their unanimous conclusion was that she was fine. And she just asked that her privacy be respected for the time being,” he said via CNN.

Pound said previously that he was “puzzled” by the video interview. But upon further review, he apparently thought better of his initial thought after speaking with colleagues.

“I would rely on the combined judgment of colleagues,” Pound said, adding that it was “a conversation between four Olympians,” and that his colleagues would have noticed if the conversation wasn’t “relaxed.”

Many people still aren’t convinced that Peng Shuai isn’t in imminent danger.

The Peng Shuai situation is undoubtedly one of the most bizarre things going on in the sports world today. And it’s definitely more delicate being as she’s across the entire world while many Americans call for her to make an appearance on her own.

At this time, there’s really no way of telling whether or not Shuai is safe other than a short interview with the IOC committee and their “expert” take on that interview from people like Dick Pound.

All we can really do right now is hope that Peng Shuai is in no present danger. And that we get some more answers soon.
