Hate him or love him, Jake Paul is good at getting publicity and making money.

Earlier today, Jake Paul laid out his terms to retire from boxing and come to the octagon to take on Jorge Masvidal.

Paul stated that:

1.Increase minimum fighter pay per fight to $50K (it’s currently $12K)

2.Guarantee UFC fighters 50% of UFC annual revenues ($1BN in 2021)

3.Provide long-term health care to all fighters

Dana White has 5 days to accept and implement the above before March 31, 2022. If White agrees, Paul will immediately retire from boxing and enter USADA and agree to a 1 fight deal with UFC to fight Jorge Masvidal.

Realistically, I don’t expect Dana White to even acknowledge any of this Jake Paul stuff this week. While White no doubt wants to see Paul knocked out in his ring, everyone knows White’s ego and ability to be a tough negotiator. There is no way White just says ok, deal, I’ll do everything you want just to get you in the ring one time.

Paul certainly laid out some impressive terms and I kind of commend the guy for trying to help the common fighter. Mind you, he also has his own agenda, but from the outside, it no doubt looks like he is trying to help everyone in the UFC make money.

In my mind, it’s only a matter of time until we see Paul in the UFC, whether that is to just box or actually fight in mixed martial arts. He has all the money in the world and has one of the biggest egos in the world; he wants this challenge.

I could no doubt see White make some exceptions and raise pay for fighters in 2022, but I don’t see White ever giving 50% of the UFC revenue back to the fighters.

Jake Paul and Dana White no doubt have some serious beef, and I certainly think a “super fight” will come up in 2022.
