Jimmy Garoppolo was the source of a lot of trade rumors after the Niners traded up to the #3 overall pick in the NFL Draft to select their next franchise quarterback.

After the draft has come and gone, and Jimmy G has stayed in San Francisco, (despite the team selecting QB Trey Lance) he is speaking out on his mindset.

Jimmy Garoppolo had an interview with “The D.A. Show” on CBS radio, and said that some advice from his father is helping him get through the Niners’ decision to draft another QB.

“At the end of the day, like my dad was just saying, all you can ask for is the opportunity,” Garoppolo said. “Once they said you’ll have the opportunity to start this year, fight it out, I was all for it.”

Jimmy Garoppolo would go on to talk about how he appreciates the open communication he received from the 49ers’ brass throughout the whole process.

He also says that he understands that it’s a business, and that you have to consistently prove yourself in the NFL.

Jimmy Garoppolo is handling this whole situation with his team drafting Trey Lance as well as anybody possibly could have asked. I kind of want to see Jimmy G stay healthy, and ball out this year.

That would make for an interesting situation for the Niners.
