New York Yankees announcer John Sterling was still getting trolled into Tuesday for a terribly missed call on what he thought was a Giancarlo Stanton homer

If you don’t know the name John Sterling, you definitely know the voice.

The radio play-by-play man for the Yankees is famous for his personalized home run calls for each member of the team. But during the Wild Card Game on Tuesday, it went terribly wrong.

Giancarlo Stanton got a hold of a fastball from Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi for what appeared to be a sure home run in the first inning.

Sterling went right into his home run call for Stanton where he declares it a “Stantonian home run”. But the ball banged off the Green Monster and Stanton settled with a long single.

Red Sox fans have every right to troll their bitter rival, and John Sterling gave them some added fuel on Tuesday.

For Boston, they’ll go on to face the Rays in the ALDS. And the Yankees will spend another offseason in disappointment about not reaching their goal of winning the World Series.

The Bronx will look for some redemption once next season rolls around. And John Sterling will hope his gaffe doesn’t live in infamy for too long.
