Justin Fields opened up on his mindset after it was announced that he would be the Chicago Bears' QB1 this week against the Cleveland Browns

It’s the time Chicago sports fans were all waiting for: Justin Fields has been named the starting quarterback.

After Andy Dalton’s knee injury, Matt Nagy announced Wednesday that Fields would be the starting quarterback against the Browns. And fans everywhere were ecstatic.

After practice on Wednesday, Justin Fields talked about the opportunity he has in front of him.

“I’ve been preparing for this moment for a long time,” Fields said via ESPN. “My mindset doesn’t change. I’m still going to have to play my football and just prepare the best I can. Like I said before, get a lot of practice reps and study, study, study, and get more comfortable and confident with the plays and stuff like that.”

After Andy Dalton went down against the Bengals, Justin Fields went 6-for-13 for 60 yards with an interception and rushed 10 times for 31 yards during the win.

It’ll likely be a little bit easier for Fields to prepare this week knowing he’ll be playing the whole game during practice.

What won’t be very easy is going up against the Browns defense – who have to be one of the toughest units in the league for the past couple of seasons.

Justin Fields will likely struggle some as he works out the kinks against NFL opponents, but Chicago is fully prepared to see their future franchise quarterback in action this Sunday.
