Lamar Odom Reacts to his Father Joe Passing Away

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom has been through a lot in the last several years. Now he has one more thing to be sad about. Lamar Odom honored his late father with a very heartfelt Instagram post. The former NBA star thanked his loved ones and fans for their support after his father, Joe Odom, died last month.

“I appreciate every single one of you for sending me good energy,” Odom wrote in an Instagram post Monday. “Life is not promised. My pops and I had our differences but at the end of the day I knew he loved me and I loved him and that’s really all that matters.”

At one point Joe and his son were embroiled in plenty of drama.  Khloé Kardashian, allegedly refused to keep paying Joe’s rent following Odom’s near-fatal overdose at a brothel in 2015.

“She disrespected me. She decided to kick me out of my home when Lamar was in hospital in Nevada,” Joe told The Post in 2016, saying Odom had previously covered his $4,000 rent for 10 years.

“I just wish I could be at his side in LA to support him, but Khloé doesn’t want me there,” said Joe, who said he had to leave his Los Angeles home for Brooklyn.

Odom’s mother died of cancer when he was 12 years old, and he was mostly raised by his grandmother.
