Lionel Messi Gives Emotional Press Conference At Camp Nou In Front Of Team And Family

It’s a sad day to be a Barcelona FC fan. Today, Lionel Messi gave his emotional farewell speech to friends, family, and teammates at Camp Nou in Barcelona.

Messi made his first-team debut as a 17-year-old in 2004. He went on to play 17 years for Barcelona FC.

Here is the full press conference (including English translations):

Lionel Messi is one of if not the best footballer in the world and his departure from Barcelona FC is a sad day for fans, family, and teammates.

The sports world was shaken up last week as Barcelona FC announced they would not be resigning star Messi.

Lane Kiffin even had a suggestion for the talented left-footer.

In his press conference you can see the emotion and affect that this decision has had on him and his family. Messi fully expected to be able to work through the details of the extension and thought he would finish his storied career in Barcelona.

Messi was admittedly shocked when he heard from the team that they would not be resigning him.

The star footballer goes on to explain that playing the last year has been hard with no fans and that this was not how he could have ever imagined leaving the club. In the press conference, Messi also confirmed that a transfer to PSG is a “possibility.”

Only time will tell where Messi will play next season and if he ever makes his way back to Barcelona or to play at Camp Nou in front of his fans.
