Mike McCarthy Weighs In On The Aaron Rodgers Drama

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy knows first-hand that Aaron Rodgers can be a bit of a diva. Rodgers clearly had a problem with McCarthy’s play-calling during the end of their time together in Green Bay, and it resulted in McCarthy being fired as the head coach.

Now, McCarthy is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and luckily doesn’t have to deal with the latest Aaron Rodgers drama. Apparently, Rodgers is so fed up with the Packers front office, that he had told his teammates that he will not be returning to Green Bay under any circumstance.

While McCarthy prepares to try to emulate the success he had with Aaron Rodgers with Dak Prescott, he was asked about the whole debacle in Green Bay.

“I think it’s like everything in this business,” McCarthy said, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. “I don’t think anything ever surprises you, and I think things like that go on. Conversations are always going on when it comes to player acquisition. Obviously, everyone knows the impact that Aaron Rodgers has made on the Green Bay Packers, but I didn’t really give it much thought. I haven’t seen anything happen, so it’s a good news story. . . . Jerry [Jones] told me when I got here, all news is good news.”

Mike McCarthy on today’s story of Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay: “It’s like anything in this business, nothing really surprise you. I didn’t give it much thought. … Good news story.”

He said when he took the Cowboys job, Jerry Jones told him “all news is good news.”

It sounds like Mike McCarthy legitimately does not care one way or another what ends up happening in Green Bay.

He just better hope that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t somehow land in the NFC East. Wouldn’t that be everything coming full circle?
