Rumors Of Mike Zimmer’s Job Being On The Line Surface Prior To Thursday Night Football

Is Mike Zimmer’s reign in Minnesota coming to an end?

During his time with the Vikings, the team has failed to get over the hump of mediocrity. And when Minnesota fell to the winless Vikings in the waning moments of the game last weekend, many upset Vikings fans were calling for the head coach to be fired the following Monday.

But the Vikings have opted to stick with Mike Zimmer. At least for now.

However, it certainly feels like Zimmer will be coaching for his job for the remainder of the 2021-22 season. And that starts with a tough Thursday night matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Prior to the game, PFT’s Mike Florio openly questioned (along with fans everywhere) if this year is the end for Mike Zimmer.

“This year, expectations were higher than 5-7 through 12 games. This year, coach Mike Zimmer talked tough before the season began. This year, the Vikings have led in every single game. This year, the Vikings have found new and spectacular ways to turn paradise into purgatory.

This year, as a result, could be Zimmer’s last year in Minnesota,” Florio wrote in his column.

Mike Zimmer will hope to push back to rumors for one more week during Thursday Night Football – and bring his team to a 6-7 record on the year.

While the NFC wild card still feels like a realistic goal for the Vikings, Thursday Night could prove to be a dagger if they don’t find a way to edge out the Steelers.
