Mina Kimes Beefing With Former NFL QB Jeff Garcia Over Jimmy G Hot Take

Mina Kimes and Jeff Garcia are trending today.

ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes drew some criticism for her take on Jimmy Garoppolo’s performance in the San Francisco 49ers divisional-round win over the Green Bay Packers.

“Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t the reason they’re winning,” Kimes said during her appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” Tuesday. “They’re winning with him, but not because of him … He posted the second-lowest QBR in 15 years [against the Packers].”

“Since joining the Niners, he has two touchdowns and five interceptions in the postseason,” she said. “These are not advanced statistics. The dude is just simply not helping them win.”

Former Niners quarterback Jeff Garcia was not a fan of her take on Jimmy G.

“Who the hell is Mina Kimes and when is the last time she threw a touchdown pass in a game?” Garcia wrote on Instagram earlier this week. NEVER! EVER! has she taken a snap or can truly understand the ability, the mindset, the physical and mental toughness, that it takes to play the QB position or any position in the NFL. The fact that there are people out there given a platform to talk about something that they have never done is hilarious and that’s how you have to look at her, she’s a joke!”

Kimes responded on Social Media over the backlash.

“Apparently I was the only person last week to point out Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t play well,” Kimes responded, to a screengrab of Garcia’s Instagram caption.

She would later delete that tweet.

This is what sports debates shows are all about, giving hot takes and getting people to react. Mission accomplished.

Jimmy G is just one of those polarizing QB’s that you can go either way on.

Kimes will probably be wary of any Jimmy G criticism moving forward.
