New York Mets Extension Offer To Francisco Lindor Has Been Revealed

The New York Mets sent a message to the entire MLB when they landed shortstop Francisco Lindor earlier in the offseason; they’re going for it this year.

With Opening Day vastly approaching this week, many are wondering if the Mets will go ahead and extend their new superstar before the season kicks off. They have been in talks with Lindor, but it would appear that the deadline to get a deal done would be Opening Day.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the Mets have sent Lindor their final offer.

Heyman would add some context to the potential Lindor deal.

Consider also that $325M is $205M more than the Astros offered Carlos Correa. Lindor should get more due to his spotless health record but they are pretty comparable players. Lindor himself was offered about $100M less a year ago by Cleveland.

I see Heyman’s point, but I think Francisco Lindor is a much more valuable player than Carlos Correa.

With that being said, it would be incredible tough to see Lindor turning down $325 Million. Especially given the fact MLB owners have been low-balling star players because of the financial hit they took from the COVID-19 pandemic.

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen has made it clear that he isn’t afraid to dig into his check book. Now the ball is in Francisco Lindor’s court.
