NFL Films Reveals Awesome Mic’d Up Moment Between Ben Roethlisberger, Mike Tomlin Following Retirement Announcement

Even if the last few years didn’t go according to plan, it’s easy to marvel at what Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin were able to accomplish together with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tomlin and Big Ben were able to reach the ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl in 2008. But perhaps what’s even more impressive was just how consistent they were.

With Ben Roethlisberger as his QB, Mike Tomlin was able to set an NFL record by finishing 15 consecutive seasons with a record of at least .500 or better. But now, Tomlin will have to start a partnership with another QB for the first time in his career.

On Thursday, Big Ben made his retirement official by posting a chilling video to social media.

Shortly after the news dropped, NFL Films released one of the most telling moments from Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin’s relationship.

In one clip, Tomlin is telling Ben that he wants the ball to start the game despite going up against the top defense in the league. “I got you,” Tomlin tells Roethlisberger. In the next clip, Tomlin is lobbying with his future Hall of Fame QB to stop taking hits, which leads to a hilarious exchange between the two.

What a run for Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin

Ben Roethlisberger will now ride off into the sunset, leaving Mike Tomlin with Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins as his QB options for next seasons.

However, the Steelers have not ruled out the possibility of trying to acquire another QB during the offseason. And they’ve been linked to the likes of Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers in the past.

One thing is for sure, though: Pittsburgh will never see another QB-coach tandem quite like Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin.
