Olympian Rips ‘Bulls***’ American Medal Habit

American Olympians have been known to celebrate Gold, but when it comes to  Silver and Bronze,  no one celebrates  too much. If an American doesn’t walk away with Gold, no one is happy. Well, one Olympian is not about that. Lilly King, the most outspoken American swimmer here in Tokyo, did more than laugh on Friday at how American’s celebrate their medals.

“Excuse my French,” she said, “but the fact that we don’t celebrate silver and bronze is bulls—.”

“Just because we compete for the United States, and maybe we have extremely high standards for this sort of thing, that doesn’t excuse the fact that we haven’t been celebrating silver and bronze as much as gold,” King said.

Twitter reacted to her take on winning a medal:

King finished with the Silver in the 20o Meter Breast and celebrated, because to her, all the her medals mean the same.

“I might be more happy with this medal than I’ve been with any of my previous medals, including the two golds in Rio,” King said. “We really should be celebrating those silver and bronzes, because those are some of the greatest moments of that athlete’s career, and why would we not celebrate that?”

Nothing is wrong with celebrating winning  a medal, but as Ricky Bobby’s Father pointed out, If you’re not FIRST, you’re LAST.
