Panthers Rookie CB Jaycee Horn Chooses No. 8 to Honor Kobe

More than 16 months after Kobe Bryant’s tragic death, the tributes are still pouring in. First-round pick Jaycee Horn is using the new NFL jersey number rule to his advantage. After being selected with the eighth overall pick in the NFL draft, Horn selected No. 8, at least in part to honor NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Horn announced his selection on with a picture of himself in a black No. 8 jersey and a tweet that said, “New beginnings. #8Ball #RIPKobe.”

Horn is the son of former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Joe Horn.

His father was recently in the news after he called out the media coverage on the Aaron Rodgers story, basically he was pissed they didn’t cover his son being drafted more.

Now at least his son is getting the coverage he deserves.
