Roger Clemens Releases Statement After Being Left Out Of Hall Of Fame During Last year On The Ballot

The baseball community is up-in-arms tonight after it was announced that both Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds were not elected to the Hall of Fame during their last year on the ballot.

To make people even more riled up, David Ortiz (who also tested positive for PEDs in the leaked Mitchell Report) was elected in to the hall in his first year on the ballot.

With many fans on social media flocking to support him, Roger Clemens released a statement.

“Hey y’all! I figured I’d give y’all a statement since it’s that time of the year again. My family and I put the HOF in the rear view mirror ten years ago. I didn’t play baseball to get into the HOF. I played to make a generational difference in the lives of my family.

Then focus on winning championships while giving back to my community and the fans as well. It was my passion. I gave it all I had, the right way, for my family and for the fans who supported me. I am grateful for that support.  I would like to thank those who took the time to look at the facts and vote for me. Hopefully everyone can now close this book and keep their eyes forward focusing on what is really important in life. All love!”

I don’t think anybody would give Roger Clemens props for his sportsmanship during his illustrious MLB career. He was often standoffish with the media and teammates. Plus, he threw a bat at Mike Piazza in a clear moment of rage during the 2000 World Series.

But at the end of the day, it appears that Clemens has found some peace in the fact that he likely will never get the nod into the Hall of Fame.

Once again, baseball — specifically the MLB — is showing just how ridiculous they are. Roger Clemens (and others from the steroid era) should absolutely be inducted into Cooperstown.
