Singer Cody Simpson Falls Short at Aussie Swim Trials

Singer Cody Simpson put his music career on hold to swim  at his first Olympic trials. Cody finished 23rd out of 92 swimmers. His time of 50.22 seconds was a personal best, but it wasn’t enough for him to advance to the Olympics in that event.

Cody‘s next event, which is his preferred event, is the 100 butterfly.

“I wanted to just get up and do something before the 100 ’fly otherwise I would be waiting around all week,” Cody told the Associated Press. “Just being around all these athletes … I love this, I really want to do this for a while. My goal this meet would be to try to make that final in the 100 ’fly, that would be nice As long as I’m improving, that’s all I can really ask for.”

In the lead-up to the trials, Simpson dropped his exclusive “The Swimming Sessions” NFTs on Monday, which include four photos documenting his training for his first Olympic trials.

Cody recently broke his silence about his split from Miley Cyrus.

“I’d known her for a long time at that point, not like a mentor but always a very hyper-creative person,” he said of the relationship, which went on to run its course.

“We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while. Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases, I guess. You go through [it] and you learn a lot from it,” he continued.

At least he has swimming to fall back on.
