This Week In Fantasy: DraftKings Stat Corrections Aren’t Even Beyond The Clutches Of 2020

What would 2020 be without one of the monumentally worst DFS stat corrections in recent memory? This week in fantasy we walk down the tragic path of a daily fantasy player who had the most devastating stat correction on Monday Night Football in Week 7 of the NFL between the Rams and Bears, where a Jared Goff sack-turned-tackle-for-a-loss was the difference in a great evening and a life-changing one for Rob Huntze.

[PUMPKIN]

Mondays are already notorious for being mediocre-at-best for a variety of reasons, but losing out on the vast majority of a cool million dollars ($996,921.06 to be exact) certainly wasn’t among them. Well, not until October 26, 2020 anyhow.

Reported by ESPN’s David Purdum, “A sack that had been credited to the Bears’ defense late in the fourth quarter was changed to a running play, a 3-yard loss by Rams quarterback Jared Goff. That 3-yard loss dropped Huntze into a tie for sixth place with 18 other entries, and his prize money dropped from $1 million to $3,078.94.”

For many of us who happen to be avid daily fantasy participants, we all have at least that one incredibly promising sweat that somehow eluded us when the Player Minutes Remaining struck zero. It’s none other than one of the most gut-wrenching experiences imaginable within the realm of gambling and daily fantasy.

However I personally could not fathom what a stat correction posted up to 30 minutes after a slate’s finish, most especially whilst winning a seven-digit paycheck, could ever invoke from my ilk. One thing is certain: there would be some vacation days taken for personal grievance.

The cruelty did not end with the statistical six-figure okie-doke either.

Apparently the man known as robocles on DraftKings is presumably more of a saint than a number of us, at least for not publicly imploding in some form or fashion. Huntze is looking forward to a redemption night on Thursday Night Football when the Atlanta Falcons head to Carolina to battle the Panthers.

“I want a little redemption story,” Huntze told ESPN.

Good luck with the tilt, sir. I may advise avoiding alcohol consumption on Thursday while mass-entering lineups.
