Vic Fangio Doesn’t Sound Very Interested In Having Drew Lock As His Quarterback

Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio has a decision to make along with the team’s brass. Quarterback Drew Lock has had some moments in his two seasons in the league, but he also hasn’t exactly inspired confidence in anybody that he’s the answer moving forward.

Last season, Drew Lock took a step in the wrong direction. The 24-year-old Missou product threw for 16 touchdowns to go along with 15 interceptions. That ratio will simply not cut it in the NFL. Denver has been reportedly active on the free agency and trade market when it comes to the quarterback position.

Vic Fangio didn’t shy away from the fact that he wasn’t committed to Drew Lock when asked about it today.

“Until Drew proves to be the next great quarterback, like the ones the Denver franchise is used to in years past,” Fangio said via Broncos reporter Zac Stevens. “We’re going to always try to bring in competition.”

The only problem for Vic Fangio and the Denver Broncos is that unless they somehow land Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson, there really aren’t that many great options for quarterbacks right now. They could elect to draft a QB with the ninth overall pick, who would then compete with Drew Lock for the starting job.

It’s looking like that will be the most likely option for a Denver Broncos team that desperately needs a spark if they want to compete in 2021.
