Zach LaVine Wants His ‘Respect’ To Be Shown In Next Contract

Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is currently enjoying being a part of Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics. But pretty soon it’ll be time for him to start dealing with his contract negotiations.

LaVine will be eligible for a new contract with the Bulls in the coming days. And he’s hoping to be paid for his All-Star-caliber play in recent years.

On Monday, LaVine spoke on how he wants his next contract to show respect from the Bulls, but he’s also willing to work with the cap space so Chicago can continue to acquire talent around him.

“I just want my respect, that’s the main thing,” Zach LaVine said via ESPN.

“I outplayed my contract. I’ve been very loyal to Chicago. I like Chicago. I just want my respect. If that’s now or later, it’s something we’ve got to work out internally.”

Zach LaVine will be playing the final year of his current contract with the Bulls this season. And he remains confident that he’ll be able to stay in Chicago, while also leaving room for second-year president of basketball ops Arturas Karnisovas to build around his talents.

“Free agency is going to play a part [in an extension] with other players and constructing a roster,” LaVine said. “We’ll have some conversations going forward.”

Zach LaVine and the Bulls appear to be committed to each other right now, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an extension happen before he hits the open market at the end of the season.
