EPL Odds Report

Brighton & Hove Albion (-137) vs. Crystal Palace (+450), O/U 2.5

EPL DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | Feb. 22

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

EPL DFS Picks: Captain

Pascal Gross (DraftKings $16,500, FanDuel $10)

Leandro Trossard (DraftKings $15,300, FanDuel $12)

Brighton & Hove Albion are second in the EPL in home expected goals differential, at 10.7. Their offense is producing 1.70 expected goals per home match, ranking fourth overall. They see a favorable matchup against Crystal Palace, who sports the sixth-worst road defense in the EPL, with 1.53 expected goals allowed per match. Brighton is led by their set-piece man Pascal Gross.

Gross provides a solid floor built on 5.3 crosses and 3.0 shots/assisted shots per match. On FanDuel is inaccurate shooting would place him more in the Flex spot. With teammate Solly March still out with injury, Gross has full control of sets and remains the penalty taker. In an expected low-scoring affair, his volume allows for him to still be the optimal Captain and pay off the asking price.

The goal-hunting options for Brighton come in the form of Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard. The price favors Maupay if he finds the back of the net. My preference is Trossard because of his overall activity. He averages 2.9 open-play crosses and 3.47 shots/assisted shots per match. Like Gross, Trossard contributes on 16% of Brighton’s scoring, which is fifth lowest in the EPL. Maupay averages 2.31 shots per match and leads the club in scoring. Outside the scoring, his main attribute — 1.22 drawn fouls per match — is hindered by a matchup against a club in the middle of the pack in fouls committed. Maupay’s scoring upside makes him an appealing Captain play on FanDuel.

Andros Townsend (DraftKings $15,300, FanDuel $8)

Eberechi Eze (DraftKings $15,600, FanDuel $9)

Crystal Palace looks to be without Wilfried Zaha again. This hinders their offense as they take on the second-ranked home defense in the EPL, with 0.81 expected goals allowed per match. The floor plays come in the form of Andros Townsend and Eberechi Eze. Townsend and Eze split set-piece shares with Eze having the edge in direct free kicks. Eze draws fouls at a rate of 2.09 per match and Townsend provides set and open-play crosses at 4.4 per match. Townsend’s offense produces 2.09 shots/assisted shots per match but has a hard time contributing on goals. Eze could see an uptick in drawn fouls considering he faces the fourth-ranked club in the EPL in fouls committed at 11.83 per match.

The floor is higher with Townsend, but the upside favors Eze. If one is out of the starting 11, than the other will see a boost in floor and output given sole command of set pieces.

Other Options: Jordan Ayew (DraftKings $11,700, FanDuel $13)

EPL DFS Picks: Flex

Joel Veltman (DraftKings $6,600 FanDuel $8)

Joel Veltman continues to impress on the wing for Brighton. Given his low ask on FanDuel, he is the top value play at the defender spot. His production since moving to the wing sees 4.75 open-play crosses per match 2.50 shots/assisted shots per match. He can add to his value with 1.75 drawn fouls per match in that same stretch. The downside is he is one of the active leaders on Brighton in fouls committed and could see a boost against the crafty midfielders of Crystal Palace.

Luka Milivojevic (DraftKings $4,200 FanDuel $6)

Luka Milivojevic doesn’t really do much in terms of fantasy production. His open-play crosses will be hindered against a team that should favor time of possession, and his conceded fouls offset the ones drawn. He is worth a punt in MME when you consider Brighton ranks second in the EPL in penalties committed, at 28% of their matches. Milivojevic should take PKs for his club with no Zaha in the lineup.

Other Options: Patrick Van Aanholt (DraftKings $6,200, FanDuel $7), Lewis Dunk (DraftKings $5,600, FanDuel $10), Jean-Philippe Mateta (DraftKings $8,200, FanDuel $10).
