EPL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy soccer lineups Matchday 28 Saturday 3/5/22

The mid-week main EPL slate consists of four matches. Three of these are virtual pick-’ems based on the odds. The lone heavy favorite is Manchester City at -556 (BetMGM) against Brighton. Brighton has a top-five defense on the road and allows 1.26 expected goals. Manchester City has the second-most explosive offense in the EPL, posting an expected home split of 2.31 goals per match. The pressure will be on Manchester City to come away with all 3 points as they look to hold off Liverpool from jumping them in the league title race. The usual suspects for Manchester City are listed on the other options for cash core plays.

Newcastle will play host to Crystal Palace, and its recent form has seen an improvement on defense, conceding one or fewer goals in nine of their last 10 matches. The loan trend bucker was an away belting they received from Tottenham. Crystal Palace is in the top half of the EPL table in road defense and have kept four clean sheets in their most recent six outings. The other options from this match of interest are strictly GPP plays for leverage against ownership.

Below are the top EPL DFS picks today on DraftKings and FanDuel for Matchday 34, which consider all aspects of the slate, from Awesemo’s expert fantasy soccer projections to pricing to popularity for DFS fantasy soccer. These EPL DFS soccer picks should help with creating highly projected lineups in DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy soccer tournaments and cash games.

EPL DFS Picks Today: DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Soccer

Mason Mount (DraftKings: $9,000, FanDuel $20)

Timo Werner (DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel $17)

Chelsea plays host to Arsenal. The Chelsea offense is third in the EPL in expected goals with 1.84 per match. In their recent form they have posted two-plus goals in three consecutive matches. These marks came across top defenses in Real Madrid and Crystal Palace. Arsenal have yet to recall how to score goals and are on a three-match losing streak. The Chelsea new-look lineup has seen Timo Werner join Kai Havertz and Mason Mount atop the three-man attack. Werner has paid off Thomas Tuchel’s trust in adding him back to the lineup with goal contributions in two consecutive matches. The sample size is still small, but he is a world-class talent and the price is still cheap enough.

Werner averages 3.23 shots per match with an on-target accuracy clip of 31%. His price still needs some goal contribution to pay off, which makes him a GPP play. The core play is a priced-up Mount. Mount builds a floor with 3.75 created scoring chances and 6.21 crosses per match. His upside is in the goal contribution, and he leads the club in overall scoring. His shot volumes is 2.61 with an on-target accuracy clip of 47.2%. Without Hakim Ziyech on the pitch, Mount is a core play all around.

Richarlison (DraftKings: $7,600, FanDuel $17)

Anthony Gordon (DraftKings: $7,300, FanDuel $11)

The matchup between Everton and Leicester City will be the most back and forth with goals. Chelsea and Manchester City will see totals of two or three apiece, but in terms of competitive matches with teams that abandon the defense style, this should be a fun one. Everton averages 1.20 expected goals per match at home, while Leicester is near the bottom of the EPL table on the road with 1.7 expected goals against.

The offense of Everton has been led by Richarlison. Richarlison handles the penalties for the club and has contributed on 31% of the club’s overall scoring. His 2.22 shots per match are paired with a concerning 23% on-target rate. His price is too hard to get to on FanDuel where Werner has a safer floor based on shot volume and on-target rate. The upside for both is mirrored based on the time off the pitch and recent success. Richarlison could play the pivot role off Werner if going with Havertz and Mount. On DraftKings he offers a higher floor than Werner due to the drawn foul rate of 3.05 per match.

The set shares for the Everton side are handled by Anthony Gordon, assuming Gray will not see the starting 11. Gordon is just behind Richarlison in drawn fouls with 2.46 per match. His shot volume comes in 1.93 per match with an on-target rate of 44.4%. The floor is built on 4.49 crosses per match, which will see a bump if Gray is out. Gordon is a cash game play with a floor and upside in a plus matchup. On FanDuel the salary is hard to ignore given the on-target accuracy, 2.52 created scoring chances and 18% goal contribution rate.

Harvey Barnes (DraftKings: $7,600, FanDuel $12)

Marc Albrighton (DraftKings: $6,400, FanDuel $10)

The Leicester City side should start with James Maddison. The issue is the price. For a top stack, Mount, Riyad Mahrez or Kevin De Bruyne are best plays regardless of the high ownership. The floor play is Marc Albrighton. Albrighton is not one to stuff the shot attempts or brace. His salary can be hit at 2x value baring injuries with his crossing volume of 5.13 and 4.95 won tackles and interceptions. Should he not see the starting 11, Maddison would handle increased set shares and offer a floor worth the price.

The goal-hunting option for Leicester City is Harvey Barnes. Barnes creates his own attempts on the wing and averages 2.82 shots per match with 35% accuracy. His salary on FanDuel is too cheap like Gordon. Gordon and Barnes for salary-relief goal-hunting options will allow pay up to Mount, Mahrez or De Bruyne mixed on FanDuel. Barnes’ contribution rate is 19% for the club and has a lean on the splits to assists. His created chances average 2.55 per match.

Other Options: Riyad Mahrez (DraftKings: $10,300, FanDuel $19), Kevin De Bruyne (DraftKings: $9,500, FanDuel $22), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (DraftKings: $5,900, FanDuel $16), Kai Havertz (DraftKings: $7,900, FanDuel $17). Chris Wood (DraftKings: $4,500, FanDuel $16), Jean- Philippe Mateta (DraftKings: $6,000, FanDuel $14), Kelechi Iheanacho (DraftKings: $6,600, FanDuel $16).

Matt Targett (DraftKings: $6,200, FanDuel $12)

Matt Targett handles the indirect sets for Newcastle. This match could very well be a stalemate. The last meeting between the two sides was a 1-1 draw. The defenses have improved from both clubs. Targett averages 4.10 crosses per match. His created chances rate is 2.70 per match and his defense sports 4.20 won tackles and interceptions. The lack of goal contribution or attempts at the net are not concerning, considering the activity regardless to time of possession splits for Targett.

The defensive spots are priced up in general. Chelsea and Manchester City have the greatest odds to keep clean sheets for the bonuses. The wingbacks for both clubs are involved offensively as well. Targett is a pivot to a popular Cancelo or James and Alonso pairing in the back. For straight goal-hunting punts, look to Antoine Rudiger. He is priced high and attacks the corner sets on the header. Rudiger jumps in on the offense and is not shy to take his shots at the net. Rudiger averages 2.89 won tackles/interceptions per match, which is low because Chelsea really do not get challenged in the back line.

Other Options: Reece James (DraftKings: $6,500, FanDuel $15), Marcos Alonso (DraftKings: $6,200, FanDuel $14), Vitaliy Mykolenko (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel $7), Joao Cancelo (DraftKings: $6,700, FanDuel $15)

Ederson (DraftKings: $5,900, FanDuel $14)

Edouard Mendy (DraftKings: $5,300, FanDuel $12)
