EPL DFS Picks DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | Dec. 29
These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.
EPL DFS Picks: Forward/Midfield
Solly March (DraftKings $8,300 FanDuel $13)
Neal Maupay (DraftKings $7,900 FanDuel $15)
Brighton, ranking fifth in the EPL in home offense, welcomes Arsenal in this matchup. Pascal Gross will garner ownership due to his penalty-taking duties, but the price is too steep given his low floor. I prefer Solly March, with his solid floor and set corner shares. March averages 6.36 crosses, 2.5 shots/assisted shots and 2.14 won tackles/interceptions per game. The upside is in his goal contribution with plenty of opportunity available.
Neal Maupay has had a rough season, and he can sink your lineup if he does not score. That said, he is getting opportunities with 2.5 shots per game and 45% on-target accuracy. I would reserve him to a GPP play and bump him up if Gross is out of the lineup because of the PK duties he will inherit.
Across the pitch, Bukayo Saka is the floor play you want, though the matchup is not favorable; Brighton’s home defense ranking first in the EPL. Saka will take the sets with Willian out of the lineup. GPP goal-hunting options fall on Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang is preferred if both start given the price discount and first crack at penalties. Both are goal-or-bust options even at reduced prices.
Ashley Westwood (DraftKings $6,800 FanDuel $16)
James Ward-Prowse (DraftKings $8,600 FanDuel $15)
Ashley Westwood at times splits set pieces or drops the corner entry pass off to Dwight McNeil. McNeil might not be available for this matchup, which gives Westwood a bump. Westwood has the floor and salary relief to fit in some big-name scoring options. He averages 5.04 crosses per game and can contribute in a few other spots for Burnley. Burnley’s home offense is bad, but Sheffield United’s road defense is the fifth worst in the EPL.
Burnley is sure to get overlooked with eight teams to choose from, and you will not need a lot to get leverage on the field. I would rank scoring options Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood as GPP value. They both have the plus matchup and come in under $6,500. Barnes gets the extra lean given the discount and extra pace in creating his own chances.
James Ward-Prowse is a high-floor, high-upside play. If Danny Ings remains out for this matchup, Ward-Prowse will handle penalty kicks along with his monopoly over set pieces. He averages 6.26 crosses, 2.66 shots/assisted shots and 2.66 won tackles/interceptions per game. He contributes on 28% of Southampton’s overall scoring, and the assisted shots volume improve with Ings in. Che Adams and Theo Walcott provide scoring upside for GPP plays in the Southampton attack.
Karlan Grant (DraftKings $3,900 FanDuel $14)
Patrick Bamford (DraftKings $9,100 FanDuel $18)
Leeds United has the worst road defense in the EPL. West Brom has been terrible this year, but Karlan Grant has had plenty of scoring opportunities. The matchup is there against Leeds, and in GPPs I am willing to take chances on the striker at under $4,000. Matheus Pereira is the set-piece man for West Brom and makes a solid pairing for attacking the Leeds defense. Callum Robinson also provides a scoring threat on the wing, and West Brom will garner virtually no ownership.
On the other side of the pitch, Patrick Bamford is the scoring threat for a Leeds team that can explode in any given game. He has scored in 66% of his games played and averages 3.6 shots per game. The asking price on Leeds attack is high, but the matchup is juicy against the worst home defense in the EPL. Raphinha provides floor volume in crosses and assisted shots as well as upside with the shooting. Mateusz Klich is a cheap exposure to the spread goal contribution of the club and handles the PK duties.
Sebastian Haller (DraftKings $6,500 FanDuel $19)
Haller is one of my top GPP value plays for scoring upside. Southampton has a mid-tier road defense, and West Ham is averaging over an expected goal per game. Plus, Haller’s ownership looks to get overlooked. If you dig into opponents similar to Southampton’s defense, Haller is averaging 3.75 shots per game. He was held to minimal output against stout defenses in Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brighton. He comes with goal-or-bust risk, but if the shot volume is there, he can surpass this asking price even without finding the back of the net.
Other Options: Jarrod Bowen (DraftKings $8,800, FanDuel $17), Bruno Fernandez (FanDuel $22), Marcus Rashford (FanDuel $21), Pedro Neto (FanDuel $17).
EPL DFS Picks: Defender
Lewis Dunk (DraftKings $4,100 FanDuel $13)
Stuart Dallas (DraftKings $6,200 FanDuel $13)
Arsenal looks to be without Gabriel in the center defense. This leaves the club exposed to corner crosses, and Solly March has a solid delivery. I like taking chances with Lewis Dunk to get his head on the end of some of these deliveries. He comes with risk of no output, but his attempts are there with increasing shot volume. He can hit over double his value if he can connect on the exposed Arsenal back line.
Stuart Dallas has a high asking price, but his floor warrants it with a mix of crossing volume from open play and consistent offensive involvement. The 3.2 won tackles/interceptions per game make the asking price more tolerable, and the upside against a weak West Brom defense offers goal involvement.
Other Options: Aaron Cresswell (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $12), Ezgjan Alioski (DraftKings $5,500, FanDuel $8), Charlie Taylor (DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $10), Vladimir Coufal (DraftKings $5,900, FanDuel $14).
Goalkeepers
Nick Pope (DraftKings $4,900 FanDuel $14)
Robert Sanchez (DraftKings $4,600 FanDuel $8)
