These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.
EPL DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders
Raphinha (DraftKings $10,000, FanDuel $19)
Patrick Bamford (DraftKings $8,000, FanDuel $21)
Leeds hosts Sheffield United, a team that struggles on the road, allowing 1.65 expected goals per match. Sheffield is in the bottom tier in defense, giving the hosts a favorable matchup. Leeds sports the sixth-best home offense in the English Premier League, posting 1.52 expected goals, but it dips in the actual goals metric to 1.35 per match. The two players that stand out are Raphinha and Patrick Bamford.
Raphinha handles indirect set shares for Leeds. He builds a floor on 6.04 crosses per match and a balanced shots/assisted shots average of 2.25 apiece per match. His asking price is high but hard to get away from in cash. When compared to Kevin De Bruyne in the same price range, Raphinha has the better matchup and looks better in the Awesemo EPL DFS projections — and he should garner the lower ownership of the two.
Bamford leads Leeds in scoring and is fourth in the EPL in goals. He ranks second in shot volume in the EPL and averages 3.13 per match with an on-target accuracy clip of 41%. Bamford has a rock-bottom floor without goal contribution, but the asking price on DraftKings is hard to pass up.
The visitors will have an opportunity to counter the Leeds attack, as they have been caught at times this season. John Fleck is interesting salary relief if looking to jam in both De Bruyne and Raphinha. Fleck offers a floor from set pieces and just under two won tackles/interceptions per match. A riskier punt would be John Lundstram for more than $1,000 cheaper. He has enough open-play crossing volume and takes chances at the net to pay off the near min price. With Billy Sharp and Sander Berge out, Lundstram should have a crack at a penalty kick should Leeds concede.
Martin Odegaard (DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $14)
Alexandre Lacazette (DraftKings $7,400, FanDuel $17)
Arsenal still has hope to earn a Europa League berth next season. They can leapfrog Liverpool with a win in this matchup. Arsenal’s home offense is average with 1.31 expected goals, and they face Liverpool’s road defense that allows 1.27 expected goals. Liverpool has not allowed a goal in three straight road matches, while the Gunners have been shut out in three of their last four home matches. Still, the form of Arsenal means they look prime to break through.
Martin Odegaard handles the set pieces and has lifted the offensive attack. He averages 4.33 crosses in full-game runs and balances 1.91 shots/assisted shots per match evenly. The asking price with the floor make him an easy fit in all formats. The goal-hunting option is Alexandre Lacazette. He averages 2.06 shots per match and hits target 62.2% of the time. Lacazette leads Arsenal in scoring. A GPP option is Bukayo Saka. He has lost his floor with Odegaard handling the set pieces, but Saka still has the shot volume (2.20 per match) and open-play crossing volume to hit value under $7,000.
The Liverpool attack is pretty common. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are the usual suspects, with 4.50 shots/assisted shots averaged for each to offer tons of upside. Look to Diogo Jota has the best option. He is the more in-form player, and since his return his on-target accuracy is near 100% in full-match run. This should regress back to normal, but even his typical rate on the club was about 50% of the matches played.
Other Options: Kelechi Iheanacho (DraftKings $7,500, FanDuel $17), Kevin De Bruyne (DraftKings $10,500, FanDuel $22), Sergio Aguero (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $19), Ilkay Gundogan (DraftKings $7,100, FanDuel $15), James Maddison (DraftKings $8,600, FanDuel $18), Tyler Roberts (DraftKings $4,700, FanDuel $7)
EPL DFS Picks: Defender
Kieran Tierney (DraftKings $5,400, FanDuel $13)
Luke Ayling (DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $12)
Kieran Tierney contributes more offensively for Arsenal by way of open play. He averages five crosses per match and 1.95 shots/assisted shots. His asking price should have him go overlooked, alongside Andrew Robertson and Joao Cancelo. Tierney is the better play given the consistent form against top English Premier League clubs such as Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham.
Luke Ayling has the plus matchup against Sheffield. He, like Tierney, contributes at the open-play level in volume. Ayling sees 1.44 shots/assisted shots per match to complement 2.17 open-play crosses and 1.37 drawn fouls. As long as Ayling is on the wing, he builds a solid floor and carries a clean-sheet upside against the worst scoring offense in the EPL.
Other Options: Trent Alexander-Arnold (DraftKings $6,600, FanDuel $14), Joao Cancelo (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $15), Jayden Bogle (DraftKings $4,100, FanDuel $5), Ricardo Pereira (DraftKings $4,000, FanDuel $13).
Bernd Leno (DraftKings $4,500, FanDuel $9)
Illan Meslier (DraftKings $5,500, FanDuel $14)
