EPL DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | March 6
These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.
EPL DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders
Anwar El Ghazi (DraftKings $10,300, FanDuel $16)
Aston Villa where disappointing in their last outing. They have a better matchup at home against a Wolverhampton club that allows 1.35 expected goals on the road. Villa is a stronger home club in comparison to the road, producing 1.80 expected goals. They look to play this match still without their star, Jack Grealish, and at this point I am going to assume Ross Barkley is not starting.
Anwar El Ghazi should handle set-piece shares in the absence of the two above and offers a solid floor. The asking price is tough to get to, but the matchup is one of the better on the slate and his upside lies in his offense. He averages 3.18 shots/assisted shots per match and hits target at a 58% accuracy clip.
Ollie Watkins (DraftKings $8,500, FanDuel $22)
Another high-priced attacker on Aston Villa is Ollie Watkins. He has struggled to find the score sheet in recent form, with just 1 assist in his previous four matches. I like to go back to him given the price should keep his ownership down and his volume is still active. He has 2.50 shots/assisted shots in that run, but the matchup allows him opportunity to return to his season numbers of 3.92.
From the visitors, the floor play Pedro Neto comes at a discount. Villa sports the fifth-best defense at home in the EPL, with 1.26 expected goals against. Neto provides open-play crosses (6.55 per match) and upside in shots/assisted shots (4.07 per match) to warrant the asking price regardless of a goal contribution. Midfielder Ruben Neves is a GPP option at under $6,000. He takes his shots at the target for Wolverhampton and handles penalty duties. He adds value on defense with 3.03 won tackles/interceptions per match, which plays into the long passes of Aston Villa’s attack.
Youri Tielemans (DraftKings $8,100, FanDuel $13)
As long as James Maddison remains out, I will ride the Youri Tielemans price. He handles the set pieces and is more involved in the attack. His floor is built on crossing volume, of which he had 10 without Harvey Barnes and Marc Albrighton in the lineup. That number would be his upside, but the floor still falls in the 5 to 6 range. The offensive output sees 3.66 shots/assisted shots per match in recent form. Brighton’s home defense is a brick wall, ranking second in the English Premier League, but Tielemans can still hit 1.5x value without goal contribution. The attack of Leicester is tough to get to, and the interest is on Kelechi Iheanacho for a GPP goal-hunting option.
For Brighton, Pascal Gross is the set-piece man, but the asking price is through the roof. His floor sees 5.59 crosses per match and 2.13 assisted shots. I am still high on Joel Veltman, who will see low ownership because of his position move from defense to midfield. Since he moved up the wing, he sees 4.5 crosses per match and 3 shots/assisted shots. The Brighton offense does not really impress, and the asking prices above $7,000 on Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard are for MME GPPs only for me.
Other Options: James Ward-Prowse (DraftKings $9,000, FanDuel $18), Danny Ings (DraftKings $7,400, FanDuel $21), David McGoldrick (DraftKings $6,900, FanDuel $17), Stuart Armstrong (DraftKings $6,300, FanDuel $14)
EPL DFS Picks: Defender
Jannik Vestergaard (DraftKings $4,400, FanDuel $14)
Jannik Vestergaard sees a plus matchup against one of the worst home defenses in the EPL, allowing 1.51 expected goals per match. He comes with a low enough asking price and contributes with 2.44 won tackles/interceptions. The clean sheet is a very real possibility against a team that has managed just 16 goals in 27 matches. Vestergaard has upside in connecting on his more recent 1.66 shots per match and is a danger on set pieces. Southampton is a top-five EPL scoring side on set pieces.
If we are looking to punt on goal-hunting defensive men, Lewis Dunk is a reasonable threat. His price climb should lower ownership, and he sees some shares on direct free kicks. He is averaging just over a shot per match and can build a floor on drawn fouls and 1.56 won tackles/interceptions per match.
Other Options: Ricardo Pereira (DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $13), Nelson Semedo (DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $13), Tyrone Mings (DraftKings $3,300, FanDuel $14), George Baldock (DraftKings $4,200, FanDuel $12)
EPL DFS Picks: Goalkeeper
Emiliano Martinez (DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $12)
Kasper Schmeichel (DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $11)
