Welcome to EPL DFS for July 19 (7/19/20). Here you’ll find our top picks, all things considered. The players who have price-considered floor/ceiling on FanDuel are especially highlighted. Keep in mind that teams are now allowed five substitutions instead of three due to lack of training during the hiatus.

The EPL DFS Breakdown
These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.
Danny Ings (DraftKings $8,000, FanDuel $18)
Danny Ings has the plus matchup against a Bournemouth defense that allows an expected goals against of 53.5%, ranking them fifth worst in the EPL. He is fifth in the EPL in shot volume and hits the net at a 39% accuracy clip. I like the third-highest scorer in the league to find the back of the net in this one.
Danny Ings 2019-2020 stats: 20 goals, 88 shots.
Jamie Vardy (DraftKings $9,000, FanDuel $19)
Jamie Vardy is the EPL’s leading scorer and hits target on 52% of his shots. The matchup against Tottenham is not the best on the slate, and Vardy comes with goal-or-bust risk. I do not think you need him in cash, but his brace upside requires attention in GPP’s. On a short slate I prefer Vardy over Harry Kane, who I think ownership will drift to.
Jamie Vardy 2019-2020 stats: 23 goals, 80 shots.
James Ward-Prowse (DraftKings $8,300, FanDuel $17)
Youri Tielemans (DraftKings $7,100, FanDuel $12)
Nathan Redmond (DraftKings $6,900, FanDuel $14)
We have a mixture of solid midfielders here. James Ward-Prowse is fourth in the EPL in crossing volume and controls Southampton’s set pieces. Youri Tielemans should take set piece shares with James Maddison and Marc Albrighton out. Nathan Redmond is a high-volume winger that can produce from open play with just under two shots per game, crosses and assisted shots.
For cash games, Ward-Prowse and Tielemans are locks given their floors and goal-contribution upside. In a GPP it is not hard to fit in Redmond who has goal-contribution upside but lacks a floor.
James Ward-Prowse 2019-2020 stats: 5 goals, 54 shots, 247 crosses.
Youri Tielemans 2019-2020 stats: 3 goals, 54 shots, 64 crosses.
Nathan Redmond 2019-2020 stats: 4 goals, 55 shots, 35 shots assisted.
Other options: Son Heung-Min (DraftKings $9,500, FanDuel $21), Harry Kane (DraftKings $8,600, FanDuel $22) Ayoze Perez (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $17), Junior Stanislas (DraftKings $6,300, FanDuel $12), Joshua King (DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $13).

Diego Rico (DraftKings $6,000, FanDuel $12)
Diego Rico is 15th in the EPL in crossing volume and takes set pieces. He can add to his floor with interceptions, assisted shots and won tackles. Southampton’s defense is below average with an expected goals against of 50.9%, and the ownership on Rico will go lower than it should given the pay-up options on offense. I like him as a GPP play on a Bournemouth stack or a one-off if you are stacking two other teams on the short slate.
Diego Rico 2019-2020 stats: 28 shots assisted, 144 crosses, 80 interceptions.
Ryan Bertrand (DraftKings $4,800, FanDuel $11)
Ryan Bertrand is a wingback that pushes up and can create up the wing. He is in the top 30 in crossing volume and accomplishes it from open play. He contributes in a few ways with shots, assisted shots, won tackles and interceptions. The price is low for the floor he brings, and since I favor Southampton in this matchup, I like him as part of my Southampton core of players mentioned above.
Ryan Bertrand 2019-2020 stats: 29 assisted shots, 118 crosses.
Other Options: Luke Thomas (DraftKings $4,200, FanDuel $11), James Justin (DraftKings $5,500, FanDuel $14), Adam Smith (DraftKings $3,100, FanDuel $8), Jan Bednarek (DraftKings $3,200, FanDuel $15), Ben Davis (DraftKings $4,000, FanDuel $11)
