Brugge: No Tau in the XI so my assumption for corner duty is Hans Vanaken. Some people will also go to Odilon Kossononou who looks to be lined up at fullback. It’s an awful spot, but if needing an out and out punt, he could be your man. He’s a CB by trade we can’t expect any crossing numbers though.

PSG: lined up as expected

Galatasaray: lined up as expected

Madrid: Rodrygo takes the wing alongside Benzema and Hazard. Priced fairly at above 7K so I wouldn’t go out of my way for him, but he’s still a solid option as massive favorites. He’s only 18 years old but has played well thus far in a Madrid kit.

Tottenham: No Eriksen and Giovani Lo Celso looks to take his place. I’m unsure if the set pieces will go to Lo Celso or Tanguy N’dombele, but both see a bump in this murky situation and warrant some consideration.

Belgrade: lined up as expected

Shakhtar: lined up as expected. I will throw out Viktor Kovalenko as a punt. Not thrilling by any stretch but there are worse options in this range.

Zagreb: lined up as expected

Man City: lined up as expected

Atalanta: No Muriel today, and Ilicic leads the line. Mario Pasalic takes Ilicic’s ‘CAM’ spot. I prefer Ilicic and Gomez if going this route, but you could probably do worse than Pasalic or Freuler.

Atletico: lined up as expected

Leverkusen: Few minor changes with Nadiem Amiri and Charles Aranguiz coming in, but both are rather thin options.

Match Breakdowns

Club Brugge (+1700) @ Paris Saint-Germain (-600) – OU 3.5 (-105 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options: Kylian Mbappe, Angel di Maria, Mauro Icardi

Brugge: Captain Ruud Vormer is still suspended, so Percy Tau should retain his set piece duty for now. He’s a GPP dart at best though against a PSG team that will pin them back all match. There’s not a whole lot of intrigue here.

PSG: Paris should finally get one of their superstars in Kylian Mbappe suited up for his first Champions League start of 2019. It’s a best case scenario for him, hosting Brugge at home. Same can be said about his mates on the frontline in Mauro Icardi and Angel di Maria. All three are core options, ideally we’re fitting two of these three in our builds. I wouldn’t recommend making any lineups with a fade of the PSG attack. Di Maria is the safest, Mbappe has the highest upside with a scintillating start to his season despite injury woes, and Icardi falls somewhere in the middle, with a very fair price but the most ‘bust potential’ as a goal dependent forward.

Galatasaray (+1540) @ Real Madrid (-550) – OU 3.5 (-110 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options: Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard

Galatasaray: There are too many other spots to consider going against Madrid on their home turf. If you truly have to, you could take a GPP flier on Florin Andone at sub 4K who’s had three or more shots in his last six matches and should’ve scored against this same Madrid defense in the reverse fixture.

Madrid: One of the biggest decision point on the slate will be how to handle the Madrid attack, consisting of Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema. They’re favored as much as PSG, but are in different price tiers. There’s not much between Hazard and Benz from a ‘career’ standpoint, but Benzema has been shooting in much higher volume thus far. I still consider Hazard the better player, but Benzema gets the edge for me tomorrow. Both are still fantastic plays though. Toni Kroos has a safe floor as always, but you’re paying top dollar for it and goal involvement for him is tough to come by.

Atletico Madrid (+160) @ Bayer 04 Leverkusen (+195) – OU 2.5 (+125 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options:

Atletico: Can someone point me to a backable player here? They’re completely okay with conceding possession and stymying their opponents, hoping for a low scoring, ground out, result. That’s probably what’s going to end up happening. Leverkusen are on zero points still so they have no choice but to go for a result. Sure, you could take a shot on Diego Costa or Alvaro Morata, but chances will be few and far between. We could easily see one or two of these guys pop up with solid scores, but from my perspective you’re mainly throwing darts.

Bayer 04: Considering they need points, I want to force myself to like some of these pieces, but DraftKings didn’t give us any help. Kerem Demirbay and Karim Bellarabi would be my two favorite pieces, but the matchup against an unwilling Atletico defense is not too appealing. The last guy I’d look at is Kai Havertz, whose talent outweighs his price. Chances are that none of these guys pop through with a big score, but a moment of brilliance from Kai could be helpful in tournaments.

Manchester City (-180) @ Atalanta (+430) – OU 3.5 (-125 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options:

City: Massive total but only slightly favored, how do we handle City? DraftKings priced them around, or higher than that of PSG and Madrid, so the Citizens are clearly behind those teams in my eyes, but I couldn’t hate on anyone playing Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne, or Riyad Mahrez in a match sure to have goals.

Atalanta: I feel grabbing some exposure to Atlanta could be sharp, even against City. Alejandro Gomez, Josip Ilicic, and Luis Muriel are the main guys to look at, as Atalanta could easily bag two here with their high flying attack. Gomez and Ilicic share set pieces and Muriel is the goal dependent striker. Those front three carry a big load in the scoring output. Still on zero points, they’ll have no choice but to go all out in hopes of advancing to the next round of the Champions League.

Shakhtar Donetsk (+225) @ Dinamo Zagreb (+125) – OU 2.5 (-130 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options:

Shakhtar: It’s not an awful spot for Shakhtar, but it’s certainly not a good one. They’re road dogs and their attackers are priced like studs. For that reason, they’re easy to write off for me. I can easily see a goal or two here but won’t be investing in their attack with Madrid and PSG priced similarly with much higher team goal expectations.

Zagreb: Similar boat for Zagreb, Mislav Orsic and Dani Olmo have been extremely solid in this Champions League group stage, but are priced around PSG and Madrid. If wanting a piece, I’d look to Bruno Petkovic in attack or Petar Stojanovic in defense.

Tottenham (-140) @ Red Star Belgrade (+395) – OU 3.0 (+115 over)

Core FanDuel + DraftKings Champions League DFS Options:

Tottenham: From a floor perspective, Christian Eriksen is the man to look at, despite the rather suboptimal spot on a tanking Tottenham side. They’ll probably struggle to cope with the Serbian crowd, given how their season has gone. You could take a stab on Dele Alli at a depressed price, or Harry Kane, but I’ll probably pass for the most part in this Champions League clash.

Belgrade: Marko Marin remains in play and should hit double digits yet again most likely. He’s priced fairly enough to roll in any format, but I wouldn’t consider him a core option. Tomane and Matteo Garcia are fine GPP punts.

Final Thoughts

Here are three of my preferred options per position for a main build, followed a GPP ‘one off’ option.

Main Build: Mbappe, Benzema, Icardi (F) // Di Maria, Hazard, Eriksen (M) // Marcelo, Mendy, Stojanovic (D)

GPP: Muriel (F) // Ilicic (M) // Carvajal (D)
