Day Four of this week’s tennis tournaments is here, and with that comes another massive slate. The fourth slate of this tennis DFS week has 22 matches with ATP and WTA players in action. We’ve got thoughts on Borna Coric and Elina Svitolina, so let’s dive in.

Borna Coric (DraftKings $10,400; FanDuel N/A)
Borna Coric has been a mess as of late to say the least, facing all kinds of injury problems. Coric is 15-7 on the hard surfaces in 2019 while reaching four quarterfinals. It’s been about a year since we’ve seen Coric at his top level, and I think his performance last week will be a big confidence boost. He reached the finals at St. Petersburg and fell short to arguably the best player on tour right now, Daniil Medvedev.
Coric has a first round matchup with Di Wu, the ATP world number 339 from China. Di Wu had an impressive finals run in the Shanghai Challenger tournament last week, but he didn’t match that in his first match here. Wu lost seven service games while winning just 49% of service points against Tatsuma Ito. Wu has a career 6-40 record against top-100 players which may result in an absolute blowout from Coric, making him a top tennis DFS pick.
Elina Svitolina (DraftKings $9,000; FanDuel N/A)
Elina Svitolina hasn’t been great since her semifinal run at the US Open, but she’s starting to show signs of life. Svitolina fought off two tough opponents so far this week in Garbine Muguruza and Svetlana Kuznetsova, both in straight sets. She’s winning 77% of first serve points while converting on 10 break point chances. The current world number three is looking to climb even higher, and I think she’ll make another statement this week.
Svitolina will go up against Alison Riske, the WTA world number 35 from the U.S. Riske has been solid on the hard courts in 2019 with a 19-14 record on the surface. However, her serve has been nothing short of poor as of late. She has faced 103 break points over her last 10 matches. 23 of those came in her first two matches this week and she lost eight of them. I think Svitolina will take advantage of that and win this match easily.
Grigor Dimitrov (DraftKings $8,900; FanDuel N/A)
Grigor Dimitrov rose from the dead at the US Open as the Bulgarian made it to his first major semifinal. He managed to take out the great Roger Federer for the first time in his career on arguably the biggest stage in the world. Dimitrov eventually fell short to Medvedev in the semis, but that run has to be the boost that he needed. He has been playing some sub-par tennis in 2019, but I think that things will start to go his way now.
Dimitrov has a meeting with Daniel Evans, the ATP world number 48. Evans has played some good hard court tennis on the ATP tour this year with a 12-9 record. He reached the finals at Delray Beach in February, but he hasn’t gotten back to that level since. His first match this week was a nail biter, as Evans escaped in a third set tiebreaker against the world number 222 Yan Bai. Evans lost three service games in that match and it wasn’t an impressive performance. I think Grigor rolls if he can keep up that level of play we saw a month ago.
Possible upset/value plays: Petra Martic (DraftKings $6,500; FanDuel N/A)
Petra Martic has played excellent tennis since the U.S. Open began with a 10-2 record. She reached the final in Zhengzhou last two weeks ago, but fell short to Karolina Pliskova. Her only loss outside of that was against Serena Williams, which proves that she will be a tough out for most players. Martic has had an almost flawless tournament this week, dropping just one set in her three matches thus far. She is firing down aces at a 10% rate while winning 81% of first serve points.
Martic will go up against Ashleigh Barty, the WTA world number one. I picked against Barty yesterday and it burned me, but I still think that there are flaws in her game. She is 8-3 on the hard courts since Wimbledon, but she is yet to have a decisive win. Her last match against Sofia Kenin was not all impressive, as Barty faced 10 break points and lost three service games. Kenin does not have a tough serve, but Martic will give Barty some trouble on that end. I think Martic can pull this off if she can serve at an outstanding rate.
Best of luck!
