DraftKings Fantasy Tennis DFS Picks | May 2

Naomi Osaka ($9,000)

Opponent: Karolina Muchova

Odds: -200

Naomi Osaka didn’t play on clay for all of 2020 due to travel difficulties from COVID. In her first match back, she handled Misaki Doi in straight sets, looking very much like the World’s NO. 2 player. The odds and proper price tag are probably due to the gap in her time on the red dirt, even considering that her opponent, Karolina Muchova, has only played 12 career matches on clay at the highest level (7-5 record).

Muchova does carry an edge in her limited time when comparing domination ratings, but Osaka has an 83% chance of winning if looking at the Elo Ratings. Take the better player at a price that is more than friendly.

Karolina Pliskova ($9,500)

Opponent: Ana Pavlyuchenkova

Odds: -270

These two have faced off seven times in their careers, with Karolina Pliskova winning six of those matchups. Oddly enough, they have never met on clay, which also looks advantageous for Pliskova. When comparing the two in all facets of their game on the red dirt, Pliskova carries an advantage across the board, including a very impressive 77% hold percentage and 59% win percentage. The odds seem slightly low, with the Elo Ratings being extremely lopsided for Pliskova, but with Ana Pavlyuchenkova winning their last matchup (2020 Australian Open), it is understandable.

After a nice win in her first matchup here, the favored Pliskova should move on.

Ownership Plays: Denis Shapovalov, Marton Fucsovics

"gottagetthiswiiin" - Born and raised in Wisconsin with a degree in Marketing. DFS has been a big part of my life since 2016 and has changed my career path and quality of life so much I can't not love it. I enjoy all sports and I'm definitely not a diehard Packers fan, or any team for that matter besides maybe the Wild. Love to travel with the wife and kid - Germany if I'm picking a favorite place. Hope to help people make more thoughtful, and informed, DFS decisions.
